Recent events in Istanbul have proved yet again that there are still an active number of people willing to fight against Britan and America and yet their efforts seem futile, only fueling America's desire to continue their conflict and giving them further justification for military conflict and atrocities such as those seen in Guantanamo bay.

It seems to me that the coalition, Bush in particular would like to view these so called terrorists simply as the 'bad guys' ignoring the fact that they have real motives for their actions consequently America continues to prolong its war on terror. The question I am asking is should this war be stopped? What does it gain and is it morally justifiable?

To me this conflict seems to be counterproductive on both sides, action by the alies against 'terrorists' creates further resentment by these 'terrrorists', in turn leading to more action by these so called terrorists against the coalition and so the process goes on in a downward spiral.

I feel that the U.S. needs to look carefully at why people, who are by no means insane, willing to give their lives to fight the U.S. I think that the allies will need to realise these casues and act upon them, realising that they too are at fault by sideling the arab world and culture. I think that America needs to realise that you cannot fight ideas with bullets and bombs and consequently I feel this war on terror should be stopped.

Unfortunately most people where I live disagree, do people here feel the U.$ should stop this conflict at least from a moral standpoint? Or do you feel the U.$ is right in its actions?

The "War on Terror" is more accurately the "War on the Wrong Terrorists to Scare Our Population Into Accepting Bigger Pentagon Budgets." "Terrorists" will be the boogeymen of the 21st Century... the dangerous evildoers that the massive, overblown U.S. military machine must protect us from. They will be what the "International Communist Conspiracy" was during the Cold War.

It is justifiable, to an extent, to work actively to rid the world of a truly abominable terrorist group like Al-Qaeda. That is not to say the tactics employed by the U.S. are justified--such as the war against Afghanistan. It is also important to note that most of the recognized terrorist states are allies of the U.S. Many of them are terrorizing, torturing, and murdering with American equipment! Terrorism is an effective tactic for dominating people, a tactic the U.S. is willing to accept if the terrorists are enriching our ruling class. Thus, recognized "terrorists" are simply those that are doing us no good. Al-Qaeda are "bad or wrong terrorists" while the Israeli military are "commandos" or "freedom fighters" even if they slam missiles into unarmed, defenseless Palestinian buildings and vehicles.
