Tenuous link I know. However I was watching a BBC programme last night which pointed out something I hadn't really thought too much about, even though I was pretty much in the thick of it all.

Disco was involving a lot of female singers singing stuff that wouldn't have been acceptable a few years earlier, thanks to the 1970s feminist movement. Also it was linked to gay lib.

House also grew from the gay scene originally.

The anti-disco movement that happened in between was largely reactionary males.

Any comments?

ok the lyrics of this classic dont exactly prove the point, but it is the best disco record ever made. Official.
