My name is Adam, from Buckinghamshire in England, United Kingdom.
Have been following Marxism for several months now, really taken an interest in recent months. Haven't really done anything active, apart from sharing drunk Marxist discussions with friends. Which basically sums up how little I have done :blushing:
I first looked into Communism, first lightly about a year ago, after studying GCSE Cold War, in which on the subject of McCarthyism and the Vietnam war I became increasingly disillusioned with the actions of the West. They seemed overtly hypocritical, and they seemed to really believe what they were doing (things like the Mai Lai Massacre, for example) was acceptable.
Then, again through History, started to learn the History of the Tsarist Russia, in which I again delved into the history of the formation of the Social Democratic movement within Russia. What struck me the must was when I asked myself 'Are the actions of the Tsarist reigme any different from the world we live in today?'. The more I asked myself this, the more I became interested in Marxist ideology. Also, since I became politically aware, I noticed the increasing comparisons between the Tsarist regime and the actions of the Conservative governments. Both claimed they were protecting the people. Both lied to the people. Both ruining countries and lives. For example, the recent developments of privatising possibly the world greatest institution, the NHS, has especially angered me. So now, I come here to develop my knowledge and political advocacy for the future.
Feel free to message me for conversation, or anything really :)
