Andrew Breitbart died this morning:

I feel very badly for his family, but Breitbart was not just a reactionary but vicious and unscrupulous. Most may remember him for the Anthony Weiner affair but I recall that he got an African-American woman fired from her job at the Department of Labor by engaging in Joe McCarthy-style lies and innuendo. I wish that I could say something good about the man, but I honestly I cannot.

of the dead, nothing but good....
oh wait:
Early this morning, news broke (http://www.politico.com/blogs/michaelcalderone/0809/CNNs_first_with_Kennedy_news.html?showall) that Sen. Ted Kennedy had passed away after serving in the U.S. Senate (http://thinkprogress.org/default/2009/08/26/57946/kennedy-tribute/) for nearly 50 years. Soon after, conservative commentator Andrew Breitbart began a sustained assault on Kennedy’s memory, tweeting “Rest in Chappaquiddick (http://twitter.com/andrewbreitbart/status/3551156537).”
Over the course of the next three hours, Breitbart unapologetically (http://twitter.com/andrewbreitbart/status/3553060537) attacked Kennedy, calling him a “villain (http://twitter.com/andrewbreitbart/status/3552302378),” “a big ass
[email protected]#$er (http://twitter.com/andrewbreitbart/status/3552660988),” a “duplicitous bastard (http://twitter.com/andrewbreitbart/status/3552948159)” and a “prick.” “I’ll shut my mouth for Carter. That’s just politics. Kennedy was a special pile of human excrement (http://twitter.com/andrewbreitbart/status/3553169520),” wrote Breitbart in one tweet.
nevermind than, what comes around goes around:

nothing, it just un-decent to publicly celebrate his dead like that a mere few hours after he died, but since thats what breitbart had in store for his political opponent if they died i see no reason to not to return the favor.

Not to mention the fact that Breitbart hated Kennedy because he wanted to institute some mild reforms with respect to issues like health care delivery. Breitbart was part of an extremely hateful group of reactionaries that has been belched forth from the blogosphere.

Tbh I've seen Breitbart say things so nasty about people that I would have a hard time using myself. Everything he said was a personal attack. Oh well, glad he's gone.

Breitbart occupies a weird role in the growth of internet 'news', being involved in the early days of a dumb liberal rag (Huffington Post) and right-wing cesspools (Breitbart and its sites, Drudge Report). But someone else would've done that even if Breitbart wasn't around, and will still be around years from now.
What I'm more concerned about is what the rise of people like Breitbart and their role in the internet indicate in the grand scheme of things, especially with what I think is the negative role of journalism his kind of sites encouraged. Kind of a throwback to yellow journalism in the internet age, I guess.

I think that the far left needs someone like Breitbart on their side, aka an extremely irritating political gadfly who just pisses people off constantly and refuses to apologize for any of it.

A simple "fuck you Breithart" would have sufficed. Yea, still, one less conservative voice; one less man brainwashing the proletariat into conservative and capitalist submission. It's all good.
P.S. Is anyone else having a lot of advertisments on this website? Also, my computer keeps on blocking viruses from this site.

Shouldn't be a problem. We have the international banking conspiracy on our side, we just need to call up George Soros and he'll get Rafiq his own news site and press credentials.

I think we should be thanking this dead reactionary slime fuck asshole, for giving us license to say things like: "I hope they feed your remains to a dog, chum the dog, feed it to a shark, run over the shark with a bulldozer and then hit it over the head with a rolled up newspaper and yell at it."
You see if he wasn't such a pile of shit, and didn't flagrantly flout basic rules of decency, it would be in bad taste to say things like that:D. Thanks Andy. I feel better. (oh and to you animal lovers out there, I would never really want innocent animals to be hurt -- for that matter, psycho, don't waste your perfectly good piss on this rotter)

He was very good at what he did. I think his politics were just born of cynical opportunism. He had no problem helping Ariana Huffington begin a career as a reformed liberal commentator and starting her online paper. If it made him cash and got his name in the paper then he would do it. To be taken no more seriously than a Kardashian. Famous for being obnoxious and famous.

I caught the Youtube version of his tirade against Occupy DC at the CPAC conference in DC and thought he seemed a bit meshugganah. He seemed to have a quite choleric personality and that can lead to heart attacks.

The important difference is that the Kardashians don't have a serious influence on peoples' political thoughts/actions and have never done anything to make a decent person lose their job.

In an interview Breitbart literally said that he became a conservative due to the personal dislike he had for liberals. That tells the you caliber of mind you're dealing with.

Dude, my girlfriend rages about Ann Coulter at least like once every other month, and I see people whine about her on facebook all the time. She's not as popular as she once was. But I think she was still more popular than Breitbart.

Coulter is a pseudo-intellectual, while Breitbart was more of an evil clown. Once when I was in the local public library, I read Coulter's apologia for Senator Joe McCarthy. Very shoddy scholarship from someone whom I believe is a lawyer. She is an enemy of not just the revolutionary left, but seems to be so reactionary as to consider liberals to be communists, too.

The worst is Horowitz.. He's still raging over the fact that lefties don't "support" Israel.. But he still looks like a dirty lefty. One minute he's on the far left, next he's on the far right. No one takes him seriously, but half of what he says isn't bull.

I had forgotten all about Horowitz and hopefully Horowitz will be in fact forgotten some of these days. He probably is the worst, but he never seems to have attained the status of Coulter or Breitbart. He does specialize in harassing progressive professors and does so in a loathsome and dishonest manner.
