You need to register a nick first before you can get into the channel. Commands begin with a forward slash

After connecting to RevLeft's IRC channel, type:

/nick TheArtistFormerlyKnownAsPrince

Where that is what you want to be known as.

Then you have to register it.

/msg nickserv register password

Now you join the channel

/join #che-lives

Then you get bored and tell everyone about it

I'm bored [hit enter to send whatever into the chat room]

Then you decide to do an action

/me is bored

Which will put in the channel:
* TheArtistFormerlyKnownAsPrince is bored

Then you leave

/quit


Later on, if you want to go in again, then I think XChat can be set to automatically set your nickname on connect. Then you just have to identify with Nickserv (he's like a bouncer) so it knows you're you.

/msg nickserv identify password

Then join the channel

/join #che-lives

Then get bored and leave
