Washington, Feb 23, (RHC), -- The First National Meeting of Cuban Residents in the United States is set to be held next April 28 in Washington DC, according to an official statement by the Cuban Interests Section in the District of Columbia.

The meeting is part of the irreversible process of normalization of relations between the Cuban government and the diaspora, initiated by Havana during the "Dialogue of 1978" and the subsequent Conferences "Nation and Emigration", held in the Cuban capital.
During the meeting, participants will discuss ways and means to further promote the normalization of relations between Cuba and its diaspora, as well as the effects of U.S. policy of hostility and blockade against Cuba and the current situation of the five Cubans unjustly held in U.S. penitentiary facilities.
This is an interesting development considering the political leadership of the Cuban diaspora that lives in the United States
