Hi there,

I have found this quote somewhere on the internet, it is said to be from Karl Marx: "There is only one way to kill capitalism—by taxes, taxes, and more taxes"
I am not sure if it's really from him, some people say it's not... i was thinking that maybe someone around could tell me. I am sorry i am still in the process of reading Karl marx for the first time :D (i'm only 21...)

thanks for your answers.

Marx never wrote those words. Marx raged against taxes. Here is a Marx quote:

Refusal to pay taxes is the primary duty of the citizen!

Obvious made up quote is obvious. I always find the made up quotes by Marx to be so easy to spot.

you can search the Marx archive for particular words

https://www.google.com/search?sitesearch=www.marxists.org%2Farchive%2Fmar x%2F&hl=en&ie=8859-1&oe=8859-1&as_occt=body&num=30&btnG=Google+Search!&as_epq=&as_occt=all&as_oq=tax+taxes&as_q=&as_eq=

ok, a lot to go through...

"taxes, taxes, and more taxes" got no results, but this could a tiny variation in translation or grammar.

However I dont think it's true.

Correct and he said it over here (http://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1848/11/17c.htm).

Didn't lenin say something along the lines of "we must crush capitalism between the grindstones of taxation and inflation" ?

I think most of these type of quotes are made up by libertarian e-nerds trying to claim obama and such are descendants of marx.

Yes Lenin wanted to tax the rich and so did Trotsky, but Stalin did the opposite and used the general climate (get rich) to get at Trotsky.

"the rich peasant not to be expropriated, but taxed equitably, heavily middle peasants to be taxed lightly
poor peasants-not at all."

http://www.marxists.org/archive/lenin/works/1918/sep/21.htm

"The agricultural tax in the country is imposed, as a general rule, in an inverse progression: heavily upon the poor, more lightly upon the economically strong and upon the kulaks."
Trotsky, 1927, Platform of the Opposition
