Is losing your virginity all it's cracked up to be?

LC: I like sex... with very few people.

Is it good to lose your virginity ASAP to get rid of the curiosity?

LC: Not really, but the first time isn't usually good at all

How easy is it to lose your virginity in college?

LC: I dunno, I lost mine with my girlfriend at the time. Casual sex isn't my thing.

Does losing your virginity give you more confidence?

LC: Nope.

See above.

No.

No.

How easy is it to lose your virginity in college?

This really depends.

Does losing your virginity give you more confidence?

Probably not.

It's not really such a huge deal, especially considering you're young enough to not be in college yet. Don't stress it and let it happen when it happens, don't try to especially get rid of your virginity.

Just wait till you do it without a condom. It'll blow your mind.

Virginity is a bullshit social construct. I'm a virgin. Since I'm also a girl, there's a bunch of societal pressure on me to stay a virgin for as long as humanly possible. Fuck that shit. Why does it even matter? It happens when it happens.

Is losing your virginity all it's cracked up to be?
No. Chances are, your first time won't be that good. Having sex if you're going to regret it afterwards is always bad, so you should only have sex when you feel comfortable, including the first time.

Is it good to lose your virginity ASAP to get rid of the curiosity?
No. If you don't want sex, don't have it. I think virginity is a silly concept, but any sex when you're not comfortable is likely to make you feel bad about yourself. So I'd say, don't wait for the "right person" but do wait for the right situation, i.e. when you feel comfortable.

How easy is it to lose your virginity in college?
Sixth form for me seemed to be made up of an abundance of drink and parties, so I'd say it would be pretty easy to lose your virginity at college. However, coming back to the point above, I did a lot of things that made me feel bad about myself.

Does losing your virginity give you more confidence?
More confidence in what? I can't speak for anyone else, but it didn't make me more confident with people I was interested in, or in general, really.

I think losing your virginity is put up on this massive pedestal of awesomeness, but really you're just going to have bad sex and it doesn't really matter. The experiences that you have count, not when you have them. So make sure that they're all good. Don't give in to pressure because being a virgin makes you feel like a failure, but also don't hold losing your virginity up as this massive big deal.

There are also stupid double standards which mean that I'd probably be classed as a "slut" but a man who'd slept with the same amount of people as me would be considered successful and cool.

I would rather cut myself with a knife than have sex.

When I was younger sex for me WAS all that it was cracked up to be, and since this was back in the 70s condoms weren't the issue that they are today. Nonetheless, one has to be real careful to balance the pleasures of sex against the emotional and physical risks involved. To sum it up in two words, tread carefully.

From a societal point of view I guess it assists with some level of social immersion. Just make sure you use protection which sounds easy but it's easier and more fun to not. If you don't then you'll end up trapped and you'll lose ten years of your life. Use your imagination the scenarios all end up with the number ten being the years lost in one way or another, to one thing or another. Actually don't have sex ever, it's not the sex so much as extending your trust to someone who may very likely try to end your existence as you know it. Nothing will ever be the same, there's no going back, that's it, it's done you're forever changed for the worst. Or everything could be great and you'll feel loved, good at loving and content.

Nox, why must all your threads be about sex? He's at that age.

I'd probably be happier if I'd never lost my virginity. But then happiness isn't all it's cracked up to be. Sex, however, is. Or at least I seem to remember so.
