Yeah I've been obsessed with the rainforest since I was old enough to remember THINGS and this show is beautiful. I love it. I love the lamest parts of it cause it's like that in real life how it was to me.

I'm confused by this thread.

I saw the first two episodes of the show and I enjoyed it for what it was. I'm optimistically hoping it develops into something more interesting, but it's been a bit clumsy so far in setting up characters and situations; and the cinema verite mocumentary thing isn't either realistic enough or invisibly stylized enough to not be distracting. But it was enjoyable and much better than Tara Nova anyway.

I also am skeptical about the ghost of the week format which is kind of a let down. "Lost" ruined genre TV for me - when I saw the part in the pilot with the sealed and welded-shut metal door with something inside thumping around, I wish they had milked that mystery for an episode or two - it was a letdown to open it and then confront a ghost in the same episode and the characters are all like, "Oh, ok I guess there are ghosts that actually exist, onto the next thing". Terra Nova was much worse at downplaying the effects of the fantasy surroundings on their characters. In that show people were like, "Oh we are cut off from everything we know and surrounded by hostile unknown pre-historic environments... hmm, I wonder if this will effect family game night where we like to have tickle fights and eat popcorn".

But I'll watch a few more episodes of the River to see if it develops into something more interesting and catches my interest since it is pretty to look at, I like supernatural TV shows, and since right now I've run out of other TV shows to watch (and It'll be harder to get pirated cable and shows from the UK so I'm going to be pissed if I can't get bootlegs of True Blood or Game of Thrones and have to wait a fucking year and a half to rent the DVDs for the upcoming seasons).

I think it sucks. One might wonder if they paid Spielberg to put his name on there. This paranormal trendism perplexes me.

Yeah I don't know if Spielberg ever has had a good TV show though. Seaquest? Ok and the other thing about the shows he produces is that they are polluted with sentimental nuclear family crap... Tera Nova and the River are about families. Sometimes his family stuff works in his movies (this is a minority opinion, but I thought War of the Worlds was great and even if I can't see Tom Cruise as a longshoreman, I thought he was a great slacker dad) but having to see families overcome minor conflicts each week just doesn't work for me.

This is the best show since Firefly.

This is the best show since Firefly.Hmm, quite a claim. :D

We'll see - then again I wasn't impressed with the first few episodes of Firefly either. Can't remember which episode it was that hooked me, but by the time they had the episode where Jane was the populist folk hero for an entire planet, I was in loooove.

I'm sad that Joss Whedon never got to make that Wonder Woman movie and I'm not sold on the Avengers, but if anyone can pull off a good ensemble superhero group Joss can, it's his favorite format apparently.

Just watched the last two episodes so far- it's fantastic. It's like a really awesome 90's ish style tv series crossed with a video game with weird dialogue sequences. I am really happy with this series so far.

Production style seems reminiscent of the Blair Witch Project, which I haven't seen. Anyway, I like it :)
