What is the whole purpose behind capitalists like Ellen Degeneres, Oprah Winfrey, "Dr." Phil, et cetera?
I don't care for them personally I hate them all, their programming is annoying. I got home today to Dr. Phil playing on Channel 2, which is WGRZ a 'news' station from buffalo. Why do they need a television show, or entire channels like in the case of Oprah? Is it indoctrination, I see them as no different than Glen Fucking Beck

Because people want to watch shows like that. Advertisers then pay loads of money to have their products either displayed or referenced on the show ("Dr. Oz" comes to mind here) or to have the station play commercials during the time-block.

If everybody decided to hate Ellen and Phil tomorrow and their ratings dropped, you can bet they would lose airtime.

Oprah, on the other hand ... she kind of has an empire.

I don't really see what's too bad about Oprah. I mean she has generic Obama supporting political views but to be honest most of what she talks about is just pop culture stuff, books, sometimes issues, etc. she's not someone who I disrespect.
