I post this thread mostly because I find it funny more than anything else (and it shows my excellent detective skills:D), so here goes.

On the face of it a rather boring piece from the SWP website which might have been in the paper. It lists a bunch of statement from British football fans in response to the recent events in Egypt.
However...
1. Every statement reads as if written the same way, using phrases such as 'filthy elements' and saying it 'stinks'; no self-defined ultras would ever speak like this.
2. Who speaks for 'fans' of respective clubs?
3. Why would Everton reference the Liverpool club song?
Yet more relevant...
4. The Holmesdale Fanatics, the only group of 'Crystal Palace Ultras' have denied making the statement.
5. Brigade 1874, the Aston Villa anti-fascist ultras have denied making the statement.
6. The Fosse Boys don't exist anymore so can't have made the statement.
All of which leads to the very likely conclusion that the whole thing is fabricated. Is this that interesting? Not really, and not very surprising either, but then not that impressive for a stated socialist group to be pulling quotes out of their arse.
Additionally considering it would have been quite easy to get real fan statements on the subject Paul Sillett must be a very lazy man indeed.
