Since the other thread has been dead and buried for a while, I guess a new one should be started.

Did anybody catch the new episode last night? Honestly I didn't think it was that good, but I am still willing to give the series a chance. The mid season finale showed that the show can still be good. Some minor critisims I had
why were there no zombies in town at all, last fall when Shane and Otis went into town, there were zombies everywhere. Now Hershel is in town for hours unarmed, a loud conversation is held, and even guns are fired and not a single zombie shows up. Also I turned my head for a second so I missed what caused Rick to shoot the skinny guy from Philidelphia, but the fat guy clearly was doing anything when rick shot him.

I learned from this episode that Lori should never drive. Also, I hope they don't drag out the story arc of Shane's increasing instability too long. I don't suppose they'll bring that to a head before the season ender.

And I wonder where they are going with Daryl's character.

If I'm right, Merle will turn out to be The Governor (from the comic) and Daryl's allegiance will be tested.

Where Shane and Otis went was a FEMA site that had been set up at the high school, well outside of the town center. The zombies have been scarce during trips to town. I wouldn't be surprised if the noise draws several walkers in, though.

The two guys had specifically flanked Rick in order to put him in their crossfire. They clearly intended to kill him and take over the farm and any resources there. When the one behind the bar went for his gun, Rick took them both out. The one guy had put his gun on the bar in a fake gesture of peace, but actually in order to access it more easily.

I would have killed Shane immediately.

As with most of this season, this episode was rather disappointing. I just feel completely underwhelmed by the whole thing.

Hell on Wheels is a much better series.

I watched the first episode of Hell on Wheels and didn't like it very much, it was to all over the place, character's weren't interesting, and it's portrayal of Native Americans was rather racist. Innocent white woman and husband walking in the wood, when they are attacked by savages who murder her husband, she manages to fight back and kill both of the Indians.

At first, I thought "The Walking Dead" series was silly — until I started watching — now I must say that the plot really is interesting. (Even though they did rip off "The Night of the Living Dead" story)

So if there is ever a world-wide disaster (perhaps bio-weapons) what would be the outcome? Makes one think, doesn't it.

*SPOILERS*

Maybe now that Shane is finally dead and they are finally moving off the farm, the show will improve. Don't get me wrong, I like it. But I think I like it in spite of its quality, not because of it. Hopefully, the absence of Shane will actually force some character development with Rick.

I think i will cease to like this show now that they have introduced this shite about some woman that keeps two zombies, her boyfriend and his friend, on leashes. I will have to wait until season three to confirm my assumption.

Hell on Wheels seems like its trying to be a cable version of Deadwood.
