Ahahaha he said Black Sabbath, Maiden, and WASP are "brand new".
If he thinks those bands are satanic, what would he think of something like Profanatica or Immolation?

That's right, Rick Santorum has declared war on heavy metal, as verified by this completely genuine news article. In other breaking news, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has been assassinated, there are hidden cameras in your cereal, and sarcasm is completely undetectable over the internet.

Edit: I can't speak to the "legit-ness" of the article but I just google searched it and it seems to be the only place quoting it. However, another site says Santorum spent time telling some youth to listen to other types of music because metal was bad.
The article is obviously exaggerated (and the author admits to doing so on his "about" page); but it wouldn't surprise me if Santorum's indeed anti-metal.

I can't even describe how much I hate Rick Santorum, especially after reading that article.

Well now we have another reason why the world has never benefited from metal because it allows silly conservatives to have a troll goat distraction.
Jk comrades: But seriously how can people listen to metal.

You know, Santorum says stuff that is so insane it's quite hard to tell that stories like this are fake. If I hadn't seen him say some of the stuff he says on video, I would probably think everything it's claimed he said was a joke.

Obviously fake. Metal is shit anyways. A lot of metal is fascist/far-right bullshit. Steer clear of Black Metal especially.

Good tunes comrade!
Still when it comes to Satanism I think that Electric Wizard is something fucking more direct then most of bands mentioned here (even Venom and Bathory are like God and Jesus of Black Metal). Still, this is my favorite song of evil (even it talks about love :)):

How can people listen to metal? Because it's cool music, full of agression, anger, nihilism and it makes you kick out all your frustrations so that you don't be a dick to people. Same question could be asked about any kind of music. Also, metal is really wide term. There are a lot of different sub genres and different approaches.
For example, this hipster nihilist shit is good:

But seriously, metal isn't anykind of a threat to anyone. It's just a music... commodity... and shit... Enjoy it or listen to something else.

And fuck off with that bollocks of metal music being fascist. Most of metal bands sing about Tolkein and Satan... It is as right wing as any other music. It depends on band and about what's cool on the market.
For example, this is 100% fascist band

Yes but, depends.
A lot of the cooler and more experimental and interesting stuff comes from north america, and in north america it came about from punk kids/hardcore kids trying to play fastier and heavier than each other. in some subgenres of metal there is a lot of overlap with crust punk and hardcore. so it really depends what you are talking about. thrash, grindcore, "post metal", and sludge are traditionally "left wing". i've heard a few anarchist/communist metal bands. same with black metal really, a lot of the cooler stuff is from north america and basically came from hipsters/punks getting blackened.

I was discussing the term "Heavy Metal" with some of my students. I was around back in the 60s and 70s, and (had not thought of this before) I had not ever heard the term "Heavy Metal" until about the 1980s. So even the "Heavy Metal" bands Black Sabbath, Aerosmith, etc were not called this in their early years. Yes, there was some usage of the word "Heavy" (without the "metal") back then.
Sidenote: "Heavy Metal Thunder" was a song lyric in Steppenwolf's "Born to be Wild" (1968) but he meant his motorcycle, not his music style.

Immolation have never used outright satanic imagery, iconography or for that matter, lyrics. They have been through all of their career fiercly anti-christian, but there's a difference between what they do (and they do it, IMO, intelligently) and satanic poser stuff.
By the way, they're the greatest death metal band of all times.

Oh how I despise this festering pile of shit that is called post-black or whatever. Utter shite, and I'm not saying this from the perspective of BM purist (in fact, this is the genre I prefer the least).

Grind isn't really a metal. It's more like extreme hardcore punk music with few metal influences.
