I read about her on the BBC site earlier. I can't imagine what living 110 years must be like, especially living through a century like the 20th century.

Sad to hear this.
World War 1 is a very under appreciated area of history. I enjoy reading about it, but there doesn't seem to be much good material. A lot of the things I have read tend to be British nationalist crap.

British books about the great war have undergone some interesting developments, from the "donkeys and lions" to more measured evaluations, and of course quite a bit of "heroic britain" stuff too.
My interest has traditionally been in the purely military applications but it's of course also a period that defined much of the 20th century and the world we live in today.
