How sadly ironic is that? Perhaps the most ironic name for a deodorant ever. Honestly, do those marketing people even understand the basic meaning of anarchy and why it would be a somewhat poorly fitting name for a mass marketed consumer product sold by a corporation?

What's worse is that I can already see the jag-offs buying into this.

"Hell yeah, anarchy man! I won't do my homework!"

Yeah, I rolled my eyes when I saw the commercial.
It seems "anarchy" now implies a generic rebellion against what's 'normal' and 'not cool'.... anarchy bruh
Jr High school kids scribbling circle-As in their textbooks doesn't help that image

Something about Chit-Chat blah blah blah...

But yea, clever marketing can dumb people down.

I don't think people will actually think it's rebellious to wear axe body spray because of this. it might become a popular product but people will realize that it's just a name.

They'll sell anything and everything if it's worth something and they can get away with it (and they often ignore the second one or it's consequences).

In High School, I scribbled a circle-A into my test, but that was because the test was on the Spanish Civil War. (Wrote 'Viva la CNT-FAI' on it too.)

Anyways, I guess anarchy just simply means 'Chaos' and 'Rebellion' now a days.

Maybe, a better term now a days would be 'Direct Democracy'.

It would help to distinguish between actual leftist anarchists and psuedo punks.

I'm not sure if the questions you're asking are rhetorical.

I liked the appropriation that Levi's jeans did better, with Walt Whitman's "Pioneers, O Pioneers" being recited over imagery of libertine youth (including confrontations between youth and riot police). Nothing sells better than rebellion and sex!

Maybe spraying yourself with it gives you immunity from the feds.

Ok so I'm closing this thread too. I thought there was a slim chance that this thread could continue to be about marketing and such but I guess not. Closed.
