A thread for the non-drunken minority of the site or at least those to whom drunkenness is the norm, and thus the brief periods of non-drunkenness are to be celebrated and cherished!

brah, coupled with this and that comment you make in the virginity thread (about most people you know being virgins), are you living in the countryside or something? i'm from london and from 13/14 onwards most, if not all, people i know started to drink. i thought this was fairly common in london.

Iosif Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili was also against drinking, and alcoholism. He even criticized Zhdanov, for his [Zhdanovs] drinking problems.

The Soviet leader’s recreational likes and dislikes are quite in keeping with his character. All Stalin's associates say that he is quite puritanical in his personal habits. He never permits smutty stories to be told in his presence. He rarely drinks vodka, preferring the mild Caucasian red wine. He smokes a pipe, never gambles and never drinks to excess.

Well, I live in a suburban area.

I just don't like the taste of alcohol yet. I've drank it before, but never enough to get noticably drunk. Also I'm not the type that goes to parties so..

I am sober. BTW has Omsk ever heard of any of the accounts of comrade Stalin's evening dinner parties where the vozhd would encourage Molotov and Khrushchev and other inner party leaders to drink vodka and perform folk dances, etcetera. Zhdanov apparently has a history of serious heart trouble, hence Stalin's admonition to him about his alcohol consumption.

I have,i doubt it,just more of the classical anti-Stalin lies that became popular after 53'-4.

And yes,Andrei Zhdanov had serious heart troubles,5 heart attacks to be precise.

Nice to hear that, it is pretty rare for leftists for some reason (revolutionary stress?). I do, myself, drink socially but, honestly, there are a lot of drinks I prefer to alcohol. And I do not envy those who get drunk at all because I've seen them make an ass out of themselves at bars and I'd hate to see myself acting like that (or worse!). :D

I have never drank to excess. I can take a fair bit of alcohol before becoming drunk - because those who drink should know their limit. If they don't, they probably shouldn't drink - and have, in fact, never actually been drunk myself and do not want to push it too far.

Right, Mods, pin this thread now!

I could call myself straightedge if I wanted to. Never drank, smoked, any of that stuff, and I don't really want to. Okay, maybe I'd try drinking out of curiosity if given the opportunity, (in a social context. Because I'm left alone at home often and all the alcohol is in the toy room, and not once have I considered it) but I don't have any burning desire to do so.

I was a self-proclaimed Straight Edge for about 8 years.
I drink now, but only like... once a month? It's not often.

I have a lot of alcohol in my fridge, but I never drink any of it... let's see here:
- Case of wheat beer (Tulsa IWW gave it to me as a present for letting them sleep here for a weekend)
- vodka gummy bears (made them out of curiosity, not too bad)
- Amaretto (it's good with Sprite, but I bought the cheap kind so I don't touch it)
- bottle of Wine (bought for a very special occasion back in July, havent touched since then)
- bottle of Vodka (^ also bought for a similar special occasion)

Someone come over and party. I barely touch the stuff.

IIRC it started with Minor Threat / Ian McKaye / the punk movement in the 80s ... McKaye hated religion and drugs ... and screamed about it in songs ... good songs, though.

A militant movement in the hardcore-punk scene that doesnt indulge in drinking, drugs, or casual sex. It was created by a 45-second song, in which the original song-writer disowns the movement. It's often symbolized with black X's on hands. At venues and concerts where alcohol can be purchased, an X would be tagged on a minor's hand. The Straight-Edge movement embraced this symbol. XXX is also common, referring to the 3 things they refrain from (alcohol, drugs, casual sex).
On the religious side, it's split. A lot of straight-edge folks also disown religion, deeming it a "poison" However, there are plenty of Christian kids that go to hardcore and punk shows and embrace straight-edge too. I always considered the religion debate personal, and just stick to the original 3.

That pretty much sums it's history the last ~30 years.

But what if you go to the hospital and they give you morphine? That shit fucks you up son!!!!I was on once on operation and I refuse it. I got chains instead. Same goes with situation when they were fixing my nose after a fight. It hurts like hell... but pain is plessure.

Today and in the 90's with Youth Crew shit sXe is a religion. Too be honest I hate most of sXers I know. They are fucking idiots and all. They judge people trought that shit, hang around only with "their kind" and they are fucking boring with edge thing. Because of the fact that this shit is such a big thing for them they remain sxe for a few months or year and then they end up as junkies. I remember one fanzine where this guy was writing huge articles against people who drink & smoke on gigs and who listen to chaos punk... he also caled me a poseur, because I used to listen d-beat and I had glam metal haircut :D other guy was radical sxe for 2 months and he tattooed "Ian McKay is my God" on his left leg :D Also sXe muisc, if we exclude Minor Threat, SSD and Negative FX, is fucking shit. Youth Crew especially - especially when they all went and became Krishnas!

So, basically sxe pretty much sucks as youth subculture, but if that is your personal life choice which you don't feel to stuff people into face... it's ok. After all I'm sxe, because of some life experience... but come on there's more in life than being so fucking "cool" cause you are part of one subculture.

I've never been drunk. I've been a bit buzzed off champagne and beer when I was in France, and I spent most of the time dancing (without the alcohol, I probably would have stood awkwardly off to the side) until everyone went out and started smoking a hookah, at which point I went inside in the dark by myself and probably started crying until everyone came back in and brought me over to the dance floor. I'm scared to see what I'd be like drunk.

lol when I was 11 (when I was a tankie) I made a crazy "radio" series on audacity called Colonel Kusak. It was about a mad raving killer who went around shooting people for no reason, but I suppose he was also a third-worldist because of his intense dislike for Americans, of any class, but funnily once he did show respect for Obama. Anyway in one episode he Hijacked a train, and called it "colonel kusak's train".

I'm glad I'm not that 11 year old tankie any more, but it does raise the question of why my Username is a reference to that. Maybe it's because the alias doesn't really link to that series any more, and I do use it for all my usernames on "teh interwebz". After all, I used the name as an alias before then anyway. So it stuck, without connecting to a crazy third-worldist tankie psycho, WHICH I AM NOT.

Do they take sleeping pills? If I have it straight, they do take medicine, so do they count over the counter sleeping pills as medicine?
