"Red Orchestra" is a great book, very worth reading. I read it a long long time ago, it's been out for decades.

A fascinating account of a world gone mad. I certainly do not trust myself to figure out truth from fiction. Just followed my nose. The characters in Red Orchestra carried on real work in defeating Hitler. Many whatever their real politics, we should be grateful for that. I too read the book decades ago, like any of that ilk, a pinch of salt.
