Seeing how this is a pretty international forum, I thought I'd see how many of you ('specially Europeans) have heard of my favorite band, HIM. Do you like their music? Don't you think the singer, Ville Valo is dead sexy? Ect. ect.

Would you die tonight for love?
Baby join me in death.

Well that is the only good song they have.

Don't fear the reaper's my fave. I've got the UK released Razorblade Romance.

I've been a fan of HIM for the last three years or so, and I'll probably be seeing them in December, I'm so excited! They're not that amazing musically but they're damn cool all the same, and Ville is pretty hot. I love his tattoos. And just think, if it wasn't for Bam they wouldn't be so big. I feel honoured to be an old fan.

-Mentalbunny, I too have the UK version of Razorblade Romance, along with the American version. I also have the other 3 albums, tons of their singles, ect. ect. You've been a fan longer than I have, I've been a fan for a little over two years, and a diehard fan for about one year. I have a matching tattoo of a heart on my wrist, like Valo, and another one I tried to do myself of a heartagram on my other wrist, but that one didn't work out too well.

-Funky Monk, Don't Fear the Reaper is about one of my least favorite songs from them, if you're into covers, listen to their cover of Chris Issak's Wicked Game, absolutely superb...

-Soviet power supreme, I doubt you've heard a lot from them then. Let me recomend some similar and better than Join Me:

1. The Sacrament - Off of their new Love Metal album, it'll remind you of Join Me.
2. When Love and Death Embrace - Super catchy keyboard parts, from Greatest Lovesongs vol. 666.
3. The Path - Also off of Love Metal, it's a long song, but it's got a lot of Pink Floydish guitar solos.

When love and death embrace was mine and my boyfriend's song about 3 years ago, he introduced me to HIM, I haven't spoken to him in ages, I wonder if he still likes them.

What tracks are on the US razorblade romance? And have you heard deep shadows and brilliant highlights?

Mike Fakelastname

Yeah, I have the album Deep Shadows and Brilliant Highlights, it's my least favorite of their albums, but it's very good nevertheless.

On the US Razorblade Romance, it has the all the songs from the UK version, plus "One Last Time" and "Sigillum Dioboli", two very awesome songs that were on the German version of the CD replacing "Resurection" and "Heaven Tonight", which were taken off for some reason.

Im not a big fan of them but my cousin is, she saw them in Germany last year. What Ive heard by them so far isn't bad. "Poison Girl", "Stignum Diaboli" and "Rebel Yell"(Billy Idol cover) are the only tracks that come to mind right now

are you all aware that H.I.M. stands for "His Imperial Magesty," and is a title given by Rastafarians to Haile Sellassie I. Its part of my favorite rasta acronym. "Intel Diplo H.I.M.," Peter Tosh's label which stands for "Intelligent Diplomat of His Imperial Magesty." He was a modest man...

I think the "Love Metal" sucked, but the former albums was pretty good..

I know, but the HIM we're talking about is a Finnish metal band. Now that you've brought that up, here's a funny story:
The HIM we're talking about doesn't stand for anything, but the singer of the band sometimes says it stands for His Infernal Majesty, mocking the H.I.M. you're talking about.

(S)aint: I have to disagree with you, Love Metal isn't very original, but it's still fairly good though.

Digital Nirvana: if you've heard nothing but the stuff off of Love Metal, yeah I can see why you think they're just typical nu-metal trash.

I can't even remember those two tracks on the European realease of RR anymore, it's been so long (over 2 years) since I last heard them :(

Mike Fakelastname... Nice name man.
I haven't heard about the band HIM, but then again I am from the states, where culture means whatever the boss decides to play on MTV. Unless you listen to Public Radio, that is. LONG LIVE NPR!!

ive heard sacrament and buried alive by love? just not my kinda music. Im not really into gothy type stuff, indie and rock all the way! Long Live The Beatles!!

Yeah, that's kinda what I thought, both "the sacrament" and "burried alive by love" are off of love metal. It's not a bad album, it just makes them seem like any other nu-metal band out there, so I see what you were saying. But yes, indie and rock are most deff. my favorite types of music, AC/DC all the way!

I reckon RR or Greatest Love Songs is the best album, can't decide which though.

While I'll admit my ignorance of this band, they don't sound all that appealing. Even from the descriptions of their fans they strike me as a bunch of Type O Negative retreds.

EDIT: I just downloaded "The Beginning of the End" and it turns out I was right.

mentalbunny
4th January 2004, 16:02
Fair enough Praxis. HIM aren't original or anything but I still quite like them, they have a strange kind of charm.

Whats wrong with Type O Negative?

Urban Rubble
6th January 2004, 04:01
I personally don't really enjoy their music, but I don't really hate it. What makes me hate them is how that asshole Bam Margera started wearing their shirts and now every 14 year old skater in the world has the heartagram somewhere on them.

Pingu
6th January 2004, 07:53
i have seen them live on a festival, all the little girls ran to HIM.........
i have heard songs of them, but i dont like them

and the others stayed waiting for Iron Maiden

Mike Fakelastname
6th January 2004, 21:20
Yeah, Bam directs a lot of their videos, that's how he's connected with them. As for those stupid skater guys, I've met a few that think "HIM" is a referrence to Bam instead of a band.... So yeah they're stupid.

praxis, The Beginning of the End is not a typical HIM song, and it's not a very good one either. For anyone that cares, they don't have a song that really defines them, no two songs sound very similar (well maybe his voice).
