As people may have read, i was recently subject to illegal mass arrest at occupy oakland, and spent a long timein detention before being processed and released. Some things which I found useful to pass the time
•Memorize and/or right on body in permanent ink, a local land line phone number and/or legal support hot line. Call legal support and give them ur name and birthday so they can track you through the system.
•Get sleep. You will likely be in for a while and you might as well try to rest up and kill time. Shoes and toilet paper rolls make great pillows, having a hood or large collar to block out the light is helpful.
•bring extra layers, jail holding/processing cells have cold concrete floors and benchs, you will be cold in a t-shirt, plus layers=bedding
•get to know your cell mates, comrades and otherwise. talk, sing solidarity, chant protest slogans, and joke around will other protesters arrested and held with you, it builds solidarity like crazy. talk to the other inmates, its a great agit prop opportunity.
• make art! out of food, paper cups, mustard packets to write on wall, scratch "occupy" or whatever into the paint for future comrades.
•play games, use floor tiles as a checker board, throw bit of whatever into a cup or the toilet, play catch with an orange
