Yesterday I was reading the booklet of the Soulfly/3 CD.I was very surprised because there were some soulmasters written down. (Bob Marley, Che Guevara, Mozart,...) suddenly I saw Zapata, Zumbi; Chico Sience, Vó Cabinda, Papino, Oxossi, Caboclio das Matas, Caboclo de Lancand, Raul Seixas...I don't know very much about some of these persons but I want to know more! Could anybody tell me something about one of these persons?
Hope is when we feel the pain, taht makes us try again...

I'll try to help as much as I can here. I will give brief descriptions of what I know.
Emiliano Zapata was a Mexican revolutionary, who overthrew the Mexican dictator Porfirio D’az and continued the struggle for redistribution of land to peasants from foreign owners. He was gunned down after believing to be meeting “disgruntled” members of the army. Try to check out the Movie "Viva Zapata" if you can.
Zumbi, I believe was a former slave who was the leader of a Brazilian state of runaway slaves. Known for his stance against colonialism.
Caboclo das Matas and Raul Seixas are Brazilian musician's. As for the rest, I'm not entirely sure. Hope that helps.

mexicans), but later the spanish guys came to mexico, and claimed to be superior, and the supression of the zapaistas had begun. EZLN is the rebel movement for zapatista rights. they have elleven points that they demand the goverment of mexico to follow through, conserning; labour rights, homes, country, health, education, independence, freedom, democracy, justice, and peace, and birth clinics for women. All of these conditones are in other countries basic.
Even that their demands are like many other rebel groups in Latin-america, they are still something different than the others. With peaceful resistance methods, and organised and various methods that has positiv influence for both the case and the zapatistas. they do not believe in "random violence", or to scare or intimidate the opposers. they are not financed , even dough the mexican goverment is trying to get them financed so they will be easier to isolate and control.
in 1994 a huge election was completed. the state of mexico would offer parts of the zapatistas demands, if they would stop the revolution. the offer was denied by practically all the zapatistas. the zapatista and the EZLN means that the state has given them two choices; surrender, or death. Sub commander Marcos has said about the "peace" proposal that the state had told them to be flexible, and sign, or they would deploy armed forces into the zapata area. the zapatas still denied, but luckily nothing concerning armed forces happened.
the zapatistas mostly live in the chiapas, mexico's most nature wealthy area. they have large productions in coffee, coco, caddle-ranches, hydro-electrical power, and timber in large porsons, that is being taken out by the lacandoa rainforest. the zapatistas are against this explotaion of the rainforest, but the goverment have given them no other choice than to use it. there is also oil, and here is where the US(of fuckin)A comes in. they have more control over the marked than anyone else..the zapatistas becomes over-worked, they hunger till death, abd their terms of living is inhuman, as everybody else takes the earnings from their work.
Summary; The Zapatistas is being fucked both by The Mexican goverment, aswell as the USA..
How depressing, I thought I had more... But anyway; I have now translated all this stuff, so be a bit happy...

a little easier explained:
Emilio Zapata was an Zapata indian that worked for the freedom and independence of the zapatistas after the most of the zapatas was forced down to the chiapas area. he was ambushed and murdered on his way to a meeting with mexico's goverment. EZLN is a rebel group working for the liberty of the zapatas with the leadership of sub-commandante Marcos. the zapatas has been supressed and millions of zapatas has died because of the invasion of the spanish *****es... something similar with all other supressed indians, no rights and freedom to kill for the white, and torture the other way around...
i think mexico was explored in 1500 something....

I find it interesting that he is a sub-commandante, because it is the people who are the commandante.
