Yes I agree, who would not? What did strike me as bizarre was that when the pots and pans demonstrations were going on against Allende. The good ladies of the middle and upper classes locked away their jewels in the safe and took their maids and female domestic servants into the city to demand beans. Guess who had to carry the pots and pans to and from the demos. I was told this as gospel truth by several Chile political refugees I worked with. One of whom was a cook at a fine house. I can still see in my minds eye that demo.....orchestrated by CIA. Along with the truck drivers strike it was big news. Surely one of the countries of south America must break ranks with the Yanqui.....soon I hope..soon!
