Comrade Marcel
21st November 2003, 07:43
Committee to Free the Cuban Five - Toronto (Youth Sub-Committee)

Meeting

When: Saturday November 29th, 12:00 PM (Noon)

Were: 21 Sussex Ave. (U of T Clubhouse, east of Spadina and South of Bloor)

Who: Anyone who is interested in working with youth towards the goal of bringing
solidarity to the Cuban 5 (Five heroic men locked in U.S. prisons, their only
crime was trying to stop terrorist attacks on their homeland Cuba) and engaging
in activism work to Free the Five prisoners.

Why: Because we must all work together to help liberate all true freedom
fighters who have been put in prisons or have faced repression, for engaging in
just activities. An injury to one is an injury to all.

What: We must link up the various issues of repression, past and present, so we
can learn and help each other in the struggle. Many other compains such as
Project Threadbear, the battle against "Security Certificates", freedom for
Muma-Abu Jamal,Leanord Peltiere, Prof. Sison, Sherman Austin, Laurie Berenson
and many others; justice for Dudley George and others who have been criminalized
for dissent, plus many other issues that will bring us all together in the
battle for freedom against the empire.

Activities: Trip to Cuba for youth from marginalized communities, to visit to
see how the Cuban society functions and why people are willing to defend it. See
how Cuba deals with the issues of women, youth, Queer marginalized, national
minorities such as black commmunity, & Rasta; human rights, AIDS
committees/advocate & Compare with the way our government deals with these
communities here in Canada.

This is going to require mobilization, fundraising, and efforts from many
individuals. Please come out and join us in Solidarity.

Regards,
Youth Sub-Committee

Hi there,

There is no age requirment. The "Youth Sub-Committee" does not necessarily mean that it has to be youth only, just that it is youth focused.

At any rate, I encourage you to come on out and check it out to see what you think.

-Marcel.
