View Full Version : 17-Year-Old Virgin?

Is it bad that I'm a 17-year-old virgin? It seems like everybody around my age has already lost it, and is constantly bragging about it. It gets annoying whenever I tell someone that I'm a virgin, and they think that I'm a loser:(
I only have 23 years to go before they make a movie about me

No, chill the fuck out, a lot of people have it worse.

Well I've had sex with 69 women. See what I did there, its called lying.
It gets annoying whenever I tell someone that I'm a virgin, and they think that I'm a loser:(
Stop telling people then and stop complaining.

Pro-tip: the more somebody brags about having sex, the less likely they are to be having (regular) sex, or, in fact, to have ever had sex. Okay I don't have any evidence to back that up with but the point is loads of people bullshit about this kind of stuff. So people won't think they're losers.

Most people around your age are gonna lie about. The worst thing that you could do is obsess over it. This will only lead to bad decisions in even worse situations. When it happens it will happen, but please, please I implore you PLEASE! Have that talk about protection. Please!

It will happen when you're ready. All the people who brag/tell you you're a loser can go fuck themselves, their opinions count for shit. I'm 16 and a virgin, don't plan on changing that anytime soon. People who judge you for that aren't worth your time and energy.

Lost mine when I was 16, but I sort of regret losing it to the person I lost it to because she cared a lot more for me than I did for her and it caused a shit storm of drama. But we enjoyed our sex while it lasted.
But honestly when people ask me if I'm a virgin I don't answer. I've fucked in some crazy places (a moving car, on a picnic bench in a park) but honestly it's nobody's fuckin business.

Sex is an enormously powerful marketing tool. Therefore, archetypes are created of teenagers that go around and fuck whoever they want that aid in the perpetuation of what is ultimately a myth. I didn't know a single person in high school who had had sex with more than a handful of people. Skins and all those other shows are bullshit, that's not how it really is/was for 99% of us.
If you're worried about not having had sex because you wish to be able to claim it as some status symbol, just try to think about the people that would judge you on that basis and whether it's even worth anything to try to impress them.
If you're worried about not having had sex because you feel left out of the connection and experience that comes with it, then maybe you just haven't found someone you feel comfortable having sex with yet. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that.
Sex in and of itself isn't particularly special anyway

its ok. i didnt get naked with a girl until i was 18, and it was a random stranger chain smoking girl on the floor of some party. and then after that i didnt get any until i was in my 20s. just don't announce it around because unfortunately we live in a shitty world where people judge you on that and it affects your relationships.

Point is, make sure you're tall enough to ride, or you might screw your life.

If you're happy staying a virgin for now, then why does it matter if other people think it's good or bad?
I had sex very young and I dont regret it, but I dont fault others for making different choices. It depends how you want to live your life.
If abstaining for now is what you want, then why worry?

Yeah OP just lie about it, nobody gives a shit enough to actually question that sort of thing.
But it's probably best to choose one lie and stick with it. It's a little hard to have to micromanage your co-workers based on which lies you told which ones.

I was 20, and I only lost it because I made a conscious decision to sleep around. If I had waited until I was in a stable relationship where it would mean something, I'd still be a virgin. :(

29th January 2012, 10:33
lol wtf, what is the point of "meaning something". i hate when people who lost their virginity say stuff like that. some people dont get the social pressure/social stigma/embarrassment with being a virgin. all your friends talk about their sexual escapades and you stay quite or make up something. when you are dating a girl, you can't say you are avirgin because that is a big red flag with a lot of people. i think people who say it doesn't mean anything are being patronizing, especially those who lost it really early. Sometimes people try to give all sorts of "comforting" platitudes that in this real, shitty world, mean nothing.

I think you'd be surprised about how common a "17-Year-Old Virgin" is. I remember reading a list of celebrities and the ages they lost their virginity and they were all around 18-20+. Those who brag about how many women they've slept with are, as a rule, full of shit and it's nothing new.

I'd imagine it's annoying (no one really did brag openly and annoy other people where I grew up), but maybe you could try not giving a flying fuck about what a bunch of kids is expecting you to have done.

Don't stress it, as long as you dont socially isolate yourself it will happen soon enough.
Assuming your a guy i think 17 is even still on average for straight people in most countries, if your gay its even later.
I had my first time really young, then got nowhere again for about 3 years, then made it all up again in a couple crazy years between long term steady relationships.
Even in my current ltr the amount comes en goes in waves.
And the only people I know who are still or mostly virgins now are more or less asexual and not really interested anyway
Long incoherent rambling story short; in all likelihood you'll get your end away soon enough.

I'm 17, and I only know a few people who could have lost their virginity.
I haven't even kissed a girl yet, and neither have most people I know. I couldn't even imagine most people I know losing their virginity anytime soon, but then again, I couldn't imagine myself losing my virginity soon either.
The rule of thumb is that if you're still a virgin after college/university, you're doing something wrong.
What you've got to do is try to expand your social network as much as possible. The more people you know, the more new people you'll meet (including girls) and you'll meet even more people through them.

yeah, being 17 and a virgin doesn't matter, unless it bothers you. i can understand younger people being virgins, that don't want to be virgins, more than older ones though, obviously.
don't people round here go to pubs, clubs and parties?
i mean sex is epic and plently of people want to fuck. so if you really want to get down to it then it shouldn't be that hard. unless, of course you're waiting for something special or some shit.

I think there's definitely more pressure on guys to have sex than girls, mainly because of things like American Pie and Superbad, and over here in the UK the Inbetweeners, where it's presented as a kind of necessity to get laid before you go to University/College, and you're weird if you don't. There also seems to be kind of an idea where at Uni you're having sex all the time which isn't really true, if you were successful before going then maybe but if you weren't than it isn't going to suddenly become really easy, it depends more on you than the place you are. I'm 18 and only had sex once and that was when I was very drunk and nervous, the same with my first kiss actually lol, but yeah I think it's made out to be a bigger deal than it is, don't feel like it's something you have to rush into, just relax about it and it'll happen when it happens

Don't worry about it. Everyone tries to brag about it in high school, but honestly: it doesn't matter. It only matters to you, it isn't of their concern.
There's no problem waiting. What's the rush? If you aren't comfortable with it, or whatever the reason is, don't sweat it. The right time will come, eventually.
Before I lost it to the girl I did lose it with, I had an ex or two where we kind-of made plans to have sex but we both decided against it. In retrospect, I'm still glad we made those decisions mutually. Hell, I was so dumb in my younger kids. If we had gone through it, I may of ended up with a kid. Yikes.

Keep in mind folks, that if you have sex, and then you go through a dry spell of 1 year or more, you become a born again virgin, so says Urban Dictionary, anyway.
So you see, you not only have to get it once. You have to keep getting it, at least once a year, for the rest of your life!!!

I'll probably get shit for this post from some people but I really don't give a fuck.
Oh, and forewarned TMI-alert: (you should expect that in a sex thread)
I enjoy sex. However, it makes a big difference between someone you enjoy being with, and casual sex. I realized with my last ex, I hadn't truly enjoyed sex until then. I mean, I had some good times in the past (including steady ex's), but it felt empty, pointless, meaningless, passionless. Being with her sent it to a completely different level.
Having sex with someone you have great passion for really does make a difference from sex with a stranger for the sake of getting off.
I'm not trying to make it sound like life is some sort of fairytale. The person you lose your virginity to, face it: you two aren't going to last a lifetime. If you enjoy casual sex, good for you, I have no problem with it. But if you're a virgin, don't go trying to lose it for the sake of losing it.

Hahaha, it's funny because you're lying to yourself and your life is boring and your self-esteem is crippled
Now I hate Nox as much as the next guy but a gangbang (as much as I hate that term) is not necessarily abuse.
Yeah, not if a gangbang is consensual (and if it is non-consensual it is gang rape), but sadly many leftists have a pseudo-puritan view of sexuality so they project sexism and abuse into anything. It doesn't matter if there are more men in a gangbang, it doesn't matter if there are more women in a gangbang, it is only abuse if it is non-consensual (e.g. rape). Same with threesomes, twosomes, double penetrations etc. etc.
I am not keen on many things sexually, but I am not going to pretend that they are abusing and that people have no right to practice consensual sexual acts in their own private time. Each to their own I say, people having orgies is not a problem, it is just what they find to be fun and sexually stimulation. Why should they be oppressed for it? That is bullshit. I'd say that people who have a problem with the sexuality of others have the most problems and are possibly projecting their own inner-sexism into such acts, and seeing them as abuse.

Is it bad that I'm a 17-year-old virgin? It seems like everybody around my age has already lost it, and is constantly bragging about it. It gets annoying whenever I tell someone that I'm a virgin, and they think that I'm a loser:(
I only have 23 years to go before they make a movie about me
No it's not bad, it'll happen when it happens. And in my experience those who 'brag' about their conquests turn out to be very insecure and/or are making stuff up to appear 'cool' or worldly.

We are going wildly and disturbingly off topic here discussing orgies and gangbangs in a innocent thread about virginity but while I completely agree with what I think is your point (i pride myself on being one of the most sexpositive members of this board) I strongly disagree with your portrayal of a gangbang as a another act of consensual sex.
Maybe its definition in years of glorification in porn, bro-culture and consensual role playing got wattered down but in its origin a gangbang is by definition abusive.

That might be true, but it just means ''orgy'' pretty much now, in every day talk, although I am sure gang rapists will no doubt use it. People do consent to orgies, therefore it is consensual sex. Gangbangs that are not consensual are gang rape.
Many slang terms words used to have more sinister meanings than they do now. But humans either allow words to get more negative (such as common words like ''shit'', ''fuck'' and ''****'' - all traditional and polite names in English, deriving from Old English) or more positive. It is just human nature, I guess.
The fact that people use ''gangbang'' as another word for consensual orgies, whilst others use it for gang rape. means that ''gangbang'' has multiply definitions* (as is actually very common with words) and thus can be consensual or non-consensual, now - though I do fundamentally agree that it did have a negative origin and thus probably should not have been adopted into slang as a neutral (negative or positive) term. I know nothing of bro-culture etc that you have mention but I do know some modern slang1.

See the problem with using a word that can mean consensual or non-consensual group sex on an internet forum is that when you just see a word written down, you don't get any sense of whether it's meant in a negative or positive way. So to avoid being misunderstood, read back what you've written and if it could be misconstrued as offensive, don't post it.

Get a bunch of girls in a place encourage them to binge drink and then use peer pressure to have them do sexual acts.
If they wont drink or do stuff then they are not-cool etc etc
Thats what happens in kelderbox sex and what i suspect happens in fraternity's too.

Ah, who cares how old you are when you lose your virginity? It happens when it happens, I'm a very shy person so I can't see myself getting rid of it before 18. The only reason why it's seen as some sort of embarrassment to lose it late is because of societal constructs that don't make an ounce of sense. Don't worry.

I remember that time, around 16 or 17, when everyone was a little anxious about it. I suppose nobody wanted to be that awkward kid sitting by the punchbowl staring at their shoes while everyone else is out on the dance floor having a good time.
I figured it would happen when the time was right. There were a few opportunities, but it just didn't feel like the thing to do and then one time, for whatever reason, it did.

You've been watching Girls Gone Wild? You realize those aren't meant to be documentaries, right?
I can't get mad about this anymore. It's just funny. People have no clue about fraternities, whatsoever, but they know the horrible truth because they're not in fraternities and are so smart for not being a "frat boy" (!) But they all usually go to frat parties, drink the beer, meet people they'll leave with and sleep with. Or the people who think like this choose not to drink at all but feel like frat boys are easy to look down even though frat boys (like college students in general) have seen a trend of fewer drinkers but more intense drinkers.
Of course, most people who say this are in the 16-26 age range, when your average man or woman has discovered the truth of the universe and knows how things REALLY work.
When a rape occurs in a dormitory or in some non-fraternity club, it is usually only the person responsible who gets punished. Before the whole Duke Lacrosse deal, sports teams weren't much of a target, to my recollection. My alma mater had a rape in a dormitory building across the street from a series of fraternities. The building was a dormitory on "Fraternity Road." All the city papers reported it as a fraternity or implied it by saying "on Fraternity Road" without context.
It's like fraternities are country clubs, drug dens, boot camp, and Hell's Angels all at once. Nevermind that many fraternities actively combat racism or are chartered specifically to multi-cultural.
Many prep schools are racist and reactionary and train trust-fund kids to grow up to be GOP bigwigs. All private schools, nay, all schools are bad. Many pro athletes are violent criminals. Many pro football/baseball/basketball players get in lawsuits over sexual misconduct. Many association football fan clubs are racist/chauvinist/fascist and start riots.
Now let's talk about how high school football players are jocks and bullies.

My advice to the OP. Never think of it as "losing virginity." Sex is just something people may or may not do depending on mood/day/relationship status/circumstance.
It's like going on a roller coaster. I'd be glad if I got the opportunity to go on a roller coaster tomorrow, but I'd rather not today. It's been a while, but so what. My friend Charles, has never been on a roller coaster before, but I don't have a special label for him.
Whether or not you go on a roller coaster in 2012 has no impact on whether you are able to ride a roller coaster in June 2015 and it has no impact on whether or not you enjoy your roller coaster ride in June 2015. None whatsoever.
I had the most opportunities to go on a roller coaster during high school and college on a whim before I had a year-round full-time job, but whether I went on a roller coaster 2 times or 200 times when I was in high school won't affect my ability to get on a roller coaster in 2012 or 2013 or 2015. It won't affect my enjoyment either. I might have wished I could have gone on the roller coaster more times in my life, but I got to go on the water slide and that was fun. It's not like I have to or can go on the roller coaster every time I go to the theme park. Sometimes I only have time for the Ferris Wheel and Pirate ship.
I know you'll be nervous the first time and you might keep your eyes closed during most of it. Don't worry, you'll get more chances to go on the roller coaster again. Some people like to go with their friends. Some like to go on the roller coaster, get off, then get back in line immediately. Sometimes the roller coaster is closed for repairs and it's not your fault. You might even find out you like the Condor ride equally or even more. I personally prefer roller coasters, but to each his own.
The best roller coasters are ones where you have to pay to enter the park and get all the rides for free as long you are "tall" enough. It will probably involve a full day of walking around and stopping for food. Avoid the cheap carnivals that come to your town. They may seem like an easy thing, but if you're paying for each ride, it's probably of lower quality and will likely be a little dirtier.
(For the hard of thinking, the roller coaster is a metaphor for coitus, not the woman. The Condor ride is whatever you want it to be.)

This might sound like a bit of a weird point to raise, but here I go. I know that a first kiss and a first shag are two different things (physically), but isn't it a bit strange that we cast them apart so far? It's rare that I hear anyone get all "z0mg I've never kissed anyone", and I'm not sure whether that's because few people haven't, or because few people care about it. What I'm trying to say is, both kissing (you know what I mean, not granny kisses) and sex can happen in different ways with different meanings. Making out with someone at a party because you're drunk and making out with your soul partner underneath the stars are two different things with different meanings, much like sex - it can either be a quickie behind the shed or a romantic night of passionate bla bla bla. Maybe I'm just a sad little loner who needs to get a girlfriend, but I find it interesting how putting a penis into a vagina (or whatever else you need to do to get things flowing... or growing ;)) is such a huge concern when it can represent a lot of the same emotions associated with a good old passionate snog. Sure, shagging generally provides much more pleasure than other physical activity not involving penis/vagina/anus, but why have we chosen penis-in-vagina as the centre of our worries? If it's purely a physical thing, i.e. which feels better, then why is there so much social/psychological meaning attached to it? I probably haven't made my point too clear, but hopefully someone knows what I'm getting at.

But yeah, I don't think there's anything wrong with being a virgin. The girls love it too. From my experience at least, they'll respect you more, because they know you're not a man whore, who's only interested in

A virgin here too, I have had the opportunity, but everytime it was incredibly awkward.
I remember one time I was with a buddy and we walked to this girls house, and she was really into me at the time. She said wait a second, I want to show you my pvc skirt. Cool right, I figured I'd wait around. I was then told by my buddy that her PVC skirt was see-through and she was probably going to come out of her room 'exposed'. My friend and I bounced and we werent around when she finally came back into the living room. I could have totally hit it, but pvc isnt my thing.
I was with this girl at the movies on a double date with the same friend as before, and the girl I was with grabbed her tits and smiled at me saying something along the lines of, "This is all yours." The aforementioned friend and I who was on a double date bounced leaving the girls alone.
Got really drunk and high with my friend and we were chilling in his room. Next thing I know he was trying to ride me like I was a wild beast and we were making alot of noise. His grandma walks into the room and we quickly did the jump up, and put our WTF faces on maneuver. No sex involved, but that wasnt a flashlight in his pocket.
:o
I guess I am trying to say is, wait for the right moment.

Is it bad that I'm a 17-year-old virgin? It seems like everybody around my age has already lost it, and is constantly bragging about it. It gets annoying whenever I tell someone that I'm a virgin, and they think that I'm a loser:(

My view on losing my virginity is that I don't expect to lose it while I'm at Sixth Form (British equivalent of high school) but if I do that's great. I'll start getting worried if I don't lose it while I'm at college. I will give up entirely if I haven't lost it by the time I'm 30.
I think I've already said this but one thing that makes me feel a whole lot better is knowing that the vast majority of people I know haven't lost their virginity and probably won't for a long time.

I remember when I lost my virginity. My dad and I drove 20 miles to go to a brothel on my fourteenth birthday. I was laying in bed with a woman and my dad just kept yelling at me "God damn it, Rooster! We didn't just drive 20 miles for you to just lie there with a limp dick! Just stick it in her!" and I was like "stick what where?". It begin to get weird when my dad decided to help and grabbed my junk and started tugging and I was yelling "mummy!" oh wait.... maybe I shouldn't have wrote all of this out.
The moral of this story is, don't stress out about it. You see all of those branches in your family tree? Fuckin'. You'll get there too at some point.
Hahaha!!! LMFAO!!!
Ok, ontopic: OP i seems to me that you are more concerned about what you think is how you should do, rather then actually wanting to have sex.
Wich brings me to that the concept of virginity (as many before have said) is overated. After having sex the first time you wont automaticly break the ice and become the allmighty kamasutra guru.
I last mine when i was 14, No bragging, but it was also my third time that i was drunk so it didnt go as smooth as i had imagine it. At this moment of youre life you can just be sure of one thing and that is that you dont know how its done (at least proparly). It wasnt until i turnned 16 that i got my first serious relationship and its first then when i started enjoy it. And no there is nothing wrong with being virgin at the age of 17, there is no such thing as objective concept on when to loose it, that evrybody needs to follow.

Everyone says it's 'no big deal' or that they 'regret it' AFTER they've already lost it. It is a very big deal for us virgins that becomes a much bigger deal as we get older. Being a virgin sucks, it feels like you are an evolutionary failure. Virgin 4 life!

Dont get me wrong. I know most people have strong sexual desires and needs that they want to live out. Im not denying that when you cant do that its very frustrating. And i dont regret anything, but in my experience to actually loose youre virginity doesnt necessary change the world, like for me it took over two years frome loosing it to have a actual relasionship. And having sexwith my gf for the first time, with just one ONS as experience, it was basicly the same as the first time (but beeing sober and with a person that i loved). So to be short, if you got a strong desire for having regular sex you should try to focus on a relationship with someone, rather then on just screwing someone and beliving that frome there it will take you forward.

For me it's not the sexual desire, it's more the fact that I have failed to pass on my genes (metaphorically speaking), failed to do what every single life form is programmed to do.

Dude, try not being programmed to want to do that. That's evolutionarily wrong. It's not a matter of failing to pass on your genes, it's a matter of having absolutely no desire to carry out that part of "programming". If I was insecure you seem to be, that would fucking destroy me. That there's something fundamentally wrong with not wanting to fulfill this evolutionary obligation, as you view it. But you know what? I give zero fucks. You should too. Whether it's ineptitude or lack of fucks to give (literally and figuratively... XD), you are not a slave to evolution. You don't have to prove yourself to nature or anything. You're not worthless if you don't perform said function right away. Like I said, I don't even want to perform said function and I don't think any less of myself for that reason. So you shouldn't either. :thumbup1:

Well there's a fundamental flaw in this... like Que mentioned, generally people don't have sex and say, "Well, that was cool... now I'm good for life."
Plus when you have sex it'll probably be with someone who you can have it with again in the near future (girlfriend, prostitute, etc.) so, you probably won't have much of a problem. You're over thinking things, I promise everything will work itself out and you will be a happy camper.

So, gang, a few months ago I ran into a dilemma this girl I've been banging lately wanted to go out, but at the same time another friend of mine from out of town, well she wanted to go out too. Oh well if we're getting into some detailed anatomy here ... IIRC the clitoris and penis are indeed different expressions of the same sex organ, albeit with the urethra routed differently (and the organ sized differently) ... but it's incorrect to say that the clitoris is a penis, and vice-versa

Don't blame society for it. Recognize it and do what you can to overcome that way of thinking because in no way is it okay...

To my mind it is subjective, if you feel like a particular act renders you no longer a virgin then you are no longer a virgin..
this. internet people trying to define whose experiences count and don't count as losing virginity end up usually doing pretty stupid (and heteronormative) conclusions so that really shouldn't be done.
