Wasn't exactly sure where to put this so mods forgive if this isn't the place.
If one wished to get a political/historical book published, how might one go about this? I'm particularly interested in trying to publish either in the United States, or in the Eastern Bloc countries (though the writing would be in English so not sure that's available option at the moment lol).
Thanks for any advice.
EDIT: Doesn't necessarily have to be a book- could also be a longer article or the like.

I'm also interested in info on being published, but for fiction.
Is anyone familiar with Amazon's self-publishing platform? Is it worth it? Or is a 'traditional' publisher better?

If I really knew the answer to this question, I'd be a lot happier... but anyway.
You will need a manuscript which you will be sending to an editor and an agent. This agent will in turn attempt to get it to a publisher who will in turn attempt to get it to the desk of someone who actually has a say in whether or not it gets published.
Now, if you want to self-publish you can use any number of websites, or you can go to a local book publisher and pay them to do it for you. Or you can publish it yourself by hand. It really depends on what kind of book you're looking to put out and how nice you want it to look.

I'm curious about this as well.
I've been working on a political piece for some time now and I'm not sure who I could really take it to.
Are there any publishers who deal with political literature or who specialize in more leftist work that have a broad reach?

AK press maybe, and if not them, they'd know who to send it to.

It also depends on how long your book is... usually length isn't a huge issue but many publishers will not take a huge manuscript from a untested author.
You might want to consider self-publishing.Usually just by googling you will find such publishers.
