After developing a regular habit of popping in here and reading through the forums as a guest, I thought I might as well join.

I've had a lifelong interest in society and alternatives to capitalism, in a "there's just something wrong with it" sort of way, but I've repeatedly found inconsistency and internal contradictions in the "solutions" offered by many that are more pronounced than those in capitalism itself.

Hopefully I can come to a better understanding of some of the differing traditions and positions represented on this board by participating in the discussion a bit, and that's basically why I'm here.

I'm decidedly anti-capitalism, though I'm not completely sold on any specific alternative (yet). I'm interested in substance, not dogma and flashy labels.

So, there it is. Nice to meet you all.

Hi ANO, welcome to RevLeft;

maybe you could kick off some discussion byt saying what you think some of the propblems with capitalism are, and maybe what some of the problems of the alternatives are, and we could take things from there?

Thanks for the welcome, but I have a sneaking suspicion that kicking off a discussion like that in the introductions forum would be frowned upon. I'll be around, participating in topics that pique my interest.

As an aside, I've got to say that this process of having everything "approved" before it's posted is extremely frustrating, and more than a little insulting. It only takes one or two posts to determine if a user is a bot. How many posts are required to graduate to free and unsupervised adult?
