Not sure if this should be in Theory, but given I'm pretty ignorant on the topic am posting here.

Do people on the board have suggestions of short readings or videos from Open Marxists?

I'm most curious about Kostas Axelos and John Holloway.

Thanks.

Waste of time I would have thought. What is it anyway?

Sorry but this is just one of those ludicrous comments you see on RevLeft every once in a while. "It's a load of crap. Also I don't know what it is." Comedy.

I'd hardly say Open Marxism's my 'bag' exactly, but I am (wait for the pun) open to the idea (wahey!) so why not just check Holloway's book 'Change the world without taking power (http://libcom.org/library/change-world-without-taking-power-john-holloway)' which I would call a decent enough starting point. Whilst you're on Libcom you could probably do with looking here (http://libcom.org/library/open-marxism-volume-1-dialectics-history), here (http://libcom.org/library/open-marxism-volume-2-theory-practice) and here (http://libcom.org/library/open-marxism-volume-3-emancipating-marx), too. Or maybe those ones first, actually, as you said 'short readings,' and you could just pick and choose articles...

A bunch of post-autonomist academics. While i find the idea(s) pretty sympatethic, the whole thing with being a purely theoretical movement pretty much makes it more or less worthless. That said, i guess some parts of it propably is pretty sane. They seem to have a common background in the journal Common Sense (can be found here: http://commonsensejournal.org.uk ).
