One of the giants of the european cinema, Theodoros Angelopoulos, has died 2 days ago in Drapetsona, Athens. Angelopoulos was one of the most important directors ever, known for his ability to speak through silence in his movies. He was also known for his long shots, every single one of them would become a perfect photograph. He was nominated in many international festivals and greeded as one of the best ever.
He was also a leftist and many of his movies had to do with politics and communist movement in Greece. Do yourself a favour and see all of his movies that you can find. His movies will give you a very good image of the struggles in Greece for the last century, a very insight look of greek society.

(probably his masterpiece, Bertolluci who had shot "1900" at the same year said that Angelopoulo's movie was better than his and that he managed to show what he tried with his own movie)

Angelopoulos was one of the greats. Truly a loss for cinema.
