Marquess

My name is Marquess and I'm from South Carolina via Wisconsin.
I've never really cared about politics until the past year when I started researching different political ideologies out of sheer curiosity. I was always reluctant to look up Socialism do to the stigma attached to it here in the US, along with being of Spanish-Cuban blood and having a family that lived in Cuba under the Castro regime and hearing about how life there is and seeing how my family there struggles just to barely get by (I naturally equated Socialism with Communism because of that). Though at that point I still hadn't considered myself a socialist, I still respected the thought and often found myself defending socialism on other forums that I belong to. After more research I guess I'd consider myself a Democratic Socialist, though still a newbie to the ideology.
I look forward to learning more here and thank you for welcoming me.:)
