Hello everyone. I was wondering if any of you could provide me with references to works from Marx or Marxist scholars on the nature of the state. If it covers the 19th century history of the modern state in Europe or elsewhere, that's a bonus. The kinds of work I have in mind are along the lines of Anderson's Lineages of the Absolutist State. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

His book on Spain, Portugal and Greece is very good. The classic is Ralph Miliband's The State in Capitalist Society.

Leo Panitch has written some classic stuff on the State.
