Thanks for the article mate, the bit about Horizontal authority was great.

Horizontal authority
Instead of vertical authority, anarchists call for horizontal cooperatives organized “by the people, for the people”. Supporting multi-independent syndicates is one of their goals. They support the idea of workers taking over factories and companies which will be self-managed by elected workers committees.
Abdullah gave the example of the Ultras, Egypt’s organized football fans. These groups are horizontal networking movements with grassroots support. They are leaderless and have joined the revolutionaries in the common fight against police brutality, and so they share common ground with anarchists.

Using the football team analogy is awesome, I love the down to earth writing, pisses me off when you have supposed radicals talking about surplus value to a bunch of other people who have already read Marx to death.
Write for the working class who are not already conscious, keep it simple and don't come off as a pretentious idiot.

Nothing really makes an islamists head expload more than anarchism. I mean, although I'm no anarchist, I use it for trolling sometimes.

I remember Devrim saying something on this board about how there's no equivalent in the Arabic language for the word "anarchy"? Is that true?

I don't think that's true. I found an arabic version of the :blackA:

http://rlv.zcache.com/anarchy_لاسلطوية_tshirt-p235108928336721950z7r95_210.jpg

It uses the first letter of the Arab word for "anarchism" (i found on wikipedia).
لاسلطوية
لا means "no"
اسلطوية means "authority" or "authoritarian".

EDIT: wait, that would actually mean Devrim is right because you would literally be saying:

"I am a no-authority-ist" instead of "I am an anarchist".

I tried communicating it to my Egyptian friend, and when we used instant translate, he said "Oh. That's bad!" And we figured it gave us a word that describe "chaos" rather than a decentralized democratic community. I wonder what words these anarchists are using to label themselves.

They might call themselves "anarchists", I've seen Egyptian ultra groups with circle a's on their banners.

The Egyptian Anarchists may be a minority, but at least they have a decent presence. Who knows? Perhaps Egypt will surpass Catalonia as a shining example of freedom for future (present?) revolutionaries. It isn't likely, but one can hope.

They really just flip their shit. I mean what else can you expect. To them, their main Rivals are: Western Liberalism, Secularism, Arabic-Communism(Pflp types, 70's Marxist Leninist Maoist groups), Arab Nationalism, etc. Anarchism is just waay out of the constraint of their political thought.

They literally identify it as "No authority, no rules, no morals, no law" (even though anarchism is the most moralistic current of socialism ;) -)

So, what they do, even, is identify Socialists as "anarchists" as well. They literally believe anarchism to be some kind of a Jewish plot to destabilize the glorious Islamic tradition.

You really want Catalonia and all that Spanish stuff to happen again? Class colaboration, government with capitalist, betray of revoltion? Anarchists suck you know...

On topic, I don't know much about this guy, but I had contact with some Egyptian anarchists and they were just a bunch of left-liberals. I don't know if there are some gorups with decent politics there...

In all honesty I don't think anarchism as a movement can adjust itself to Egypt's material conditions. And like the user above me said, most of the so-called "Anarchists" or "Communists" in egypt are, really just Liberals. But, luckily, we do see a genuine class interest manifesting itself in Egypt. I do predict that soon, the Egyptian workers (and In no way am I trying to be optimistic) will see a dissatisfaction with the Islamists.
