Hello, iM wondering if anyone knows any leftist political organizations in the city of Erie PA, or any where in Chautauqua county NY, I'd love to get active and assist my comrades, so far however I have found very few leftists of any kind in my area and I don't know of any organizations here either. Can someone please help if you know of any

Often times leftist political organizations are located in major metropolitan areas.Anywhere outside these hubs are usually started by "At large" members and might not even be listed in official party transcripts. So,for anyone outside, possible in obscure areas,it can be difficult when you desire a genuine leftist presence.

Why would you want to join leftist organisation? They mostly just sell their newspapers and day dream of being revolutionary organisation while they can't probably help even to themself.

First of all, you didn't even give the thread a full day!
Second, what you should be concerned with is deciding on your ideas/theory and what kind of practice you think is effective based on that theory, and then you should look for an organization which meshes with that.
I have been a member of quite a few organizations, from hyper-organized ones to very loose ones and everything in between. And now I'm not a member of any, and I don't think thats a bad thing. There is often very little that being in an organization will actually do for you.

Usually to meet and socialize with other leftists and exchange ideas. While it depends on the party I would say that you are mostly correct;newspaper selling is hardly the reason I became a socialist.Seems to be the only thing the leaders stress (at least among the smaller groups).

I think the emphasis on paper selling goes back to Lenin; I seem to remember reading that he wrote a very early essay, "Where to begin," (1898?) and the answer to the question in the title was, with an all-Russian (i.e., national) political newspaper.
In a situation where the class is in motion, newspapers are pretty important and probably a lot easier to sell. I still think paper selling is important; at least, it gets leftists on the streets, trying to connect with workers, which is all to the good, I think. (Sorry if my ideas are conventional; I really don't know of any other way to begin an organization.)

I found early on in life that offering to be a "body" for strikes or volunteering for issues that you connect with is a great way to meet other people with your views as well as party members from different organizations. Be prepared do some traveling. But this is part of what makes the struggle, and I really hate using this word, fun. Networking, building relations and constant analysis of local and world events will assist you in making a better choice as well as being a better cadre when that choice is made.:thumbup1:
