I guess it just doesn't seem as much of a community as it used to be. There really was at one point a sort of relatively bottom-up power structure that has been exponentially inverted. RevLeft has become something in and of itself, and control of it seems like a worthwhile pursuit. That's why the CC got out of control, that's why it got shut down, that's why being an admin makes you disproportionally liable to be banned. I still see the forum's main function as being an educational resource, but its capacity for such has been compromised significantly.

But, to paraphrase NewLeft, shit happens, and that topic of discussion isn't going anywhere. I just wish I had an easy answer to these problems that I see, but the problem now is that I can't muster up the motivation to try to find one.

As ridiculous as this is going to sound (and keep in mind this is just my perception, I'm only one guy talking over here), there are actually more people on this site who are politically active offline than when I first joined. Yeah, there's always going to be one or two people who see posting online as some sort of political activity, but this is the internet. Some of that has to be chalked up to geography. You can't exactly expect a 17 year old kid in East Nowheresville, South Dakota to have access to a vibrant local political scene. The end result of that is that various fora around the web wind up being her only outlet.

Anyway, that's all off topic. To that end, if you're not satisfied with the content here, write better posts, lol.

Most of the mods knew nothing about it. I've opposed a lot of actions before it. You've moaned two or three times about it today alone but I wasn't pointing to you specifically and can think of several users who have done it more frequently although I think it's irrelevant. When you say 'the people running it' you immediate include any mod or admin who is in a position to facilitate discussion in various areas of the board regardless if they agree or had any say in what happened. Passive aggressive comments such as 'whatever dude' and 'bro' to me are unnecessary.

I'm sorry you are sad, but as you said, you have learned alot in 10 years here. I came to that same realization myself a while back. Theres just so many times you can debate a subject before you start repeating yourself and seeing the same debates over and over. I really would like to see a new subject that has never been explored here. 10 years is a long time. I wonder just how much is left to learn after that amount of time. And I guess theres no way to know.

Anyway, after a while the newness does wear off and it becomes the same old same old. Glad you are still here though. It does show you have a fortitude for endurance and that says a lot.

I worked more specifically with Rikki on his solo projects. He was wanting to get Rolan Bolan to play on a TREX cover he was doing and I happen to be friends with Rolan. Talks ensued but never gelled and Rikki went forward without him on the project. Like I said, this was 2001ish.

I also was friends with Dimebag D. (RIP) of Pantera (which there are pics of he and I floating around on the net. The way I see it Revleft is a lot like life, a microcosm of life I might say. When you arrive you are a noob who knows nothing and then you go through a rebellious stage and then learn how to fit into the community before becoming a boring elder statesman who runs things but no one likes anymore. I know shit about New Orleans. When it comes to metal I listen to mostly thrash, glam and black. I know a lot about black metal bands, especially from Eastern Europe or obscure places. Also, I know a lot about Japanese speed/thrash/doom/drone/burning spirits shit...
