New call out for the Amsterdam demo:

On the 1st of May we take over the streets and squares around the world, a tradition existing for over one hundred years. We take to the streets to strengthen our dignity and struggle, and show that it is possible to fight what oppresses us. Queens day was once invented to make sure that Holland is experiencing a collective hangover on the 1st of May... It does not surprise us that the 1st of May tradition in Holland is only developing slowly, because social movements have always been recuperated and destroyed. But we do not want a walk around the park so people can go home having done “something”, we want a confrontational collective experience, that goes further than just that day.
We live in a time of economical and political crisis, actually a crisis of the states, banks and big companies, but the people pay the price. The political and corporate vultures just found a new stick to beat the people down with. They expect us to carry the whole weight, to not complain- everything to keep their position and bank account safe. Just because their economy has always needed rich but even more the poor, and because they want to have us addicted to work and money to keep their economy functioning.
While the 'social securities' are vanishing, the banks have more power than ever. In both Italy and Greece the clumsy politicians were replaced by characters of the european bank, without an election. Their 'crisis' is only being used to keep and increase their money flow and their democratic system. We are being kept afraid, frightened to loose our job or house, afraid of foreigners... While we should be furious. Without any shame they are destroying the earth we are living on. Everything is for sale, from war and safety, till 'green' feelgood-products and a social life on your smartphone.
The crisis only exists as an excuse to locally frighten the people, and like that keep them under control with new laws and less money; elsewhere on the world the crisis is the perfect excuse to increase ruthless exploitation, and to care even less about people and the world.
The whole existence of the crisis can be doubted, because there is more than enough food to feed the whole population- its about who claims it. They can no longer fool us with their ridiculous contracts, consumerism, chipcards, camera's, bankcards and IDcards. They are not necessary at all and never have been. What is necessary, is that people take their life and their city in to their own hands. We do not take it when people are being stopped and searched on the streets because of the colour of their skin, and then arrested because they don't have the right papers. We do not take it to be exploited by any company or boss. We do not take when our lives are being dominated by religion.
We want to fill in our lives ourselves and together, but before we get to that point we will have to fight for it. Fight for a free world, where people are not being hindered by borders, authorities and capital. Fight for a world in which we are not numbers, and where the circus of school, work and consuming until death does no longer exist. We will not wait any longer for their next blow to hit, we wont let ourselves be frightened, we think and act for ourselves and each other. Because of all of that: lets take the streets
We will no longer let ourselves be judged on productivity

We will certainly not submit to their system

We will destroy their control and profit
Anarchy, solidarityt ...and never work again!

I was telling someone else from the forum (part joking part very dead seriously) that those who can't make it out should nerd out and throw a LAN/TV party wherever they live for their friends/peers with each monitor/tv showing a different city's live stream from where ever in the world. Do it at school or wherever in the hallways.

here's a lead up to may day story

Today I was out in this city park with friends and there were a lot of people walking about and I was telling a friend how when we look around like how many of these people are gonna know about or care about may day and all of a sudden there was this person probably in their 40's, kind of typical relaxing weekend attire, dirty jeans etc and they were taking photographs of a building and some guy and his dog walked past them and said about how nice of a day it is and how he hoped it would last but probably more rain boohoo or something and this person turned to the guy and said 'yeah but you know May Day's coming' in a really excited tone totally referring to the planned activities on the 1st.

Can any Southern Cal comrades tell me why Union del Barrio (SCIC) is trying divide the MayDay march from the MayDay Coalition? Apparently they tried this last year and know the MDC has to hold up their march(3-4 hours) to keep these yahoo's from dividing it. I'm not privy to this level of triflings or sectarianism so any input would help.

Violence erupted in the streets of Montreal Wednesday night after talks broke down between student groups and the Quebec government, leading to 85 arrests and shattered windows.

Several police officers were also injured in the riot that left the city stunned Thursday.

Banks and other businesses, cars, even a police station had their windows shattered by an angry mob that spilled out from a larger crowd of thousands of student protesters.

sounds like May Day in Paris (http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/04/26/us-france-election-labourday-idUSBRE83P0JI20120426) might be interesting:

Hollande, tipped to beat the conservative Sarkozy in the May 6 ballot, faulted his adversary for calling a rival rally near the Eiffel Tower on May 1 in a challenge to the annual trade union event.

"I regret that Nicolas Sarkozy has exploited this (event) to go in search of conflict," the Socialist candidate told France (http://www.reuters.com/places/france) Info radio, saying he would leave May Day to organized labor.

"May 1 is a worker celebration that trade unions across the world decide upon, and I consider it is not for politicians to interfere, even during an election campaign," Hollande said.

Sarkozy's plans for a parallel rally sets the stage for a three-way contest in the streets of Paris.

Alongside union-led marches, the far right National Front will be holding its annual "Joan of Arc Day" rally in the capital, at which anti-immigration candidate Marine Le Pen has said she will spell out her position on the presidential race.

seems a pretty good nationwide response might be coming to the anarchist demo here in amsterdam, even the iranian communist party is showing up. now just hope that between queensnight (29th), queensday (30th), ajax championship (3th or 6th of may), remembrance day (4th) and liberation day (5th) the pigs will be so stretched that they wont be able to overpolice the demo again like they did last year in utrecht (where we never made it further than a few meters from the starting point).
