I'm sorry i don't have any advice on telling people, have you considered talking to a doctor, therapist or AA about it? they would probably be able to advise you much better than revleft.
Well done for saying you have a problem, it's cliched but the first step to recovery is knowing you have a problem.

My uncle is an alcoholic and has been in a crisis for a few months now. He's lost his job, wife, kids, and most of his family and he's tried to drink himself to death. From what I hear (and this makes sense), if you are an alcoholic, then cutting back doesn't really fix the problem, you have to quit drinking all together. Probably easier said than done because I'm not addicted to anything but I would seek professional help with your problem. Do you mean breaking it to other alcoholics? I don't know about other alcoholics, but my uncle doesn't listen to anything. We've all basically had to let him go and accept that he might die. Of course, he's completely different when he's sober, but there's no way to keep him sober. My grandmother tried to have him committed, but the cops said that since he wasn't combative that they couldn't do it. Which makes no fucking sense because I was committed to the psych ward when I was 16 fucking years old and I wasn't combative.
Sorry if I wen't OT.
