Yup, no class stratification to be found here.

Notice the first thing a capitalist thinks of assaulting on a worker is his hand, because that's all that waiter is to that fuck - a set of hands.

I hope that guy slams his fingers on a car door during freezing temperatures.

I wonder if the waiter would have been charged if he broke a chair off the millionaires head as a response to the millionaire breaking his finger.

Of course he would be charged. And it would be the first thing on fox news about how the working class is violent. The smart thing to do is win a huge settlement from the rich guy and pay kids to throw eggs at his house twice a month.

I would have taken food from a table, a smelly food, and pour/smash it on this fuckers face, proceeding to back hand slap him silly and take his chair, watch him fall, then whip out my penis and take a big ol piss on him. Then I'd quit my Job because fuck west palm beach.

The waiter brought the bill to the table...

So the CEO grabbed his hand and started twisting his fingers? That is an interesting reaction. Am I allowed to say, "senile much"?

No offence meant, I'm not trying to be ageist. Is "senile" allowed? I think it's just descriptive... maybe in his age the CEO's mind might not be what it used to be.

you wouldn't believe how much sexual harassment most servers have to tolerate either, especially at businesses catering to the elite

Notice the first thing a capitalist thinks of assaulting on a worker is his hand, because that's all that waiter is to that fuck - a set of hands.I understand you're trying to make a point, but in reality I doubt the first thing a capitalist thinks of assaulting on a worker is his hands because they think "This waiter is simply a pair of hands so I shall break his finger to illustrate that!"

He got mad. He attacked the waiter. Members of the proletariat have also attacked waiters. I'm not trying to defend the millionaire, but I am simply trying to say that a situation like this doesn't automatically mean there is some class analyses to be found in regards to the reason for the attack.

Horrible situation though, of course.

A new game we can play: who gets to be first against the wall?

My vote: this guy

I wouldn't have the self control to not snap in that situation. I'm glad that guy did! He has a good case for court now. ;)

While I do agree that unjustified acts of rage are by no means the exclusive territory of the wealthy, it takes a particular flavor of self-centered to have your reaction to someone doing their job be to break their fingers. That signifies that you either have near zero self control or that you believe you're above the person you are attacking or that you're above the consequences of your actions.

That entitled attitude is, generally, found more often at the top of the social ladder and among those who want to pretend they're closer to the top than they actually are.

I've seen people do very stupid things when angry but attacking another human being who was doing nothing to provoke them generally happens when the aggressor is someone who believes themselves to be above punishment or above you.

Sure plenty of working class people get mad at waiters or clerks, but it comes from a different place: for regular and poor people it usually comes out of a feeling of powerlessness whereas it's the exact opposite in this instance. This is obviously an over the top example of the kind of elitism that simmers just below these kinds of arrangements. As a CEO I'm sure this guy has been much more angry at other business people and lawyers and accountants yet I doubt he's grabbed them and broken their finger - he did this because he felt it was acceptable.

The whole idea of not having a check sent to you, having servers that probably enter through a back door and have to pretend not to exist, uniforms, all that shit is designed so the rich feel like masters of the world, rather than just people with more cash than others.

I think the quote below is telling and implies how the club itself enables this sort of thing:

Mr. Kucik complained to his employers, who shrugged off the incident. When the pain continued, he sought medical attention and later learned from a x-ray that Castle’s attack had rendered his left ring finger broken.
