Which one would it be and why? In my case I'd love to go back to the Mediterranean in late Antiquity (Egypt especially). The late Roman empire had an amazing flowering of culture and philosophies, and I would love to go back and appreciate it first hand.

I don't know dude, they all seem rather crappy to me;provided our own era is hardly all sunshine and rainbows but at least here we have modern medicine and health care knowledge.
But if I had to choose perhaps when the Native Americans still held control of their land.Seems like it would be incredibly awesome to see such a culture when everything was at its prime and full.

Not necessarily to live there, but to visit briefly (the modern age is indeed superior in many ways, and I don't think I'd survive living permanently in any other)

I'd preferably live in the future...I always wanted to be a space explorer lol. :)

For me it would either be the European Age of Enlightenment or the 60's (France/USA)

I would go back to the mid to late 19th century, in the American West, as I have always fantasized about being a cowboy.:D

Well, a whole lotta places in the 20th century (St. Petersburg 1917, anyone?) but I'd really like to check out the early seventeenth century as well. Dawn of the scientific era, plus there's a whole lot of lost folk music traditions I'd love to check out.

Sometime either before 3000BC or 3000BC-1000BC, this way I would be able to verify some historical linguistics stuff (like what PIE was actually like), also I would be able to get info on languages that we have no record of. So basically I would probably die immediate up arrival from a linguistics related nerdgasm.

Early 20th centry, maybe go over strategy with the Spartacists in Germany or help turn the tide in the Spanish civil war.

Back to the year 0, punch Jesus in the face and then tell people about modern technology so we can have the modern age alot earlier.

I'd either want to live through the Russian Revolution and 1920s or Paris of the 1960s.

Back to the 70s to protest against nuclear weapons.

For me it would be Mesopotamia between 12,000 - 5,000 BC so I could actually see the creation of alienation, classes and the state. The ancient past is the most vague period of human history - specifically I would probably want to see the Ubaid period.

Scandinavia circa 800AD. I want to loot and pillage the unsuspecting coastlines of Christendom in the name of Odin.
16th-18th centuries would be a close 2nd since being a pirate would also be pretty fucking metal.

The Late Jomon Period, around 2000 to 1500 BCE. The Tokugawa shogunate. The Tang Dynasty. The early Iroquois League. I'd like to spend some time with the early population groups that migrated from Beringia to the Americas. Get a look at the giant sloth, short-faced bear, dire wolf, smilodon. I'd especially like to see how the saber-tooth cat hunts.
Come to think of it, it would be interesting to spend time with various modern human population groups as they began spreading out across the face of the planet from 70,000 or so years ago. It would be amazing to see Neandertals, and what sort of interactions took place between them and homo sapiens.

Ancient Egypt, around 2000 B.C.
I'd bring many weapons and technology, etc. Instruction books for producing them, etc.
 maybe I'd start a coup in egypt, abolish slavery, and with knowledge of vast technologies, effectivly conquer the world.
