Anyone into Manliftingbanner?
They were an early 90's communist hardcore-punk band from the Netherlands.
One of my favorite bands as a youth. Specific disagreements aside, they still live in my heart, to this day.

I have the utmost respect for the members, who were also in other similar minded bands like Lärm, Seein' Red and Deadstoolpigeon and inspired a lot of people to go beyond the individualistic lifestylism and the moralistic worldview so present in punk subcultures.

Can't post videos yet (less than 25 posts...) but go on you tube and type
"Manliftingbanner Commitment" or use the this ID after the generic video URL: xEAQhvddL8o

COMMITMENT

Where man is free
where`s no more need
i`ll rest my soul in peace
when there is silence
without a coming storm
i`ll be free of the oath i`ve sworn

But until that time remains my
commitments to communism

When man controls
what man has made
i`ll put up with faith
when there`s no more sorrow
no more harm
i`ll lay down my arms

But until that hour remains our
commitment to communism.

Seein'red is one of my fav bands, really nice guys too, always willing to play benefit gigs for a crate and some petrol money.

go check them out in a few weeks in OCCI. Onfortunatly it will be their last show :( because the bass player got hearing problems (which is not really a suprise if you played for decades in netherlands hardest bands).

Wow, I wish I could go see Seein Red's last stand... Too bad about Jos' hearing. I saw them live twice over the years and they have always been incredible, a real powerhouse of a band. Too bad the first time I saw them was in Holland, so I couldn't understand the banter between the songs...

Seein'red; 30 second songs, 5 minute political speeches, that's communist punk alright...
