We've got this high-school organization (SLAM, it's called, about 25 kids in it)
and another organization (from University of BC) came to talk to us about doing a peace project, which we accepted, but the rest is up to us, and I'm not sure what we should do for this...
Our main focus is to try to promote peace, stop hunger, starvation, sweatshops etc etc. educate and provide food/water/shelter for third world countries, (and hopefully disguise a little bit of communism in it).
We're going to be featured on YTV (I was hesitant at first but at least it's something) and we'll probably get press from local newspapers and some other stuff like that. (I'll be sure to wear communist shirts in all the clips :D )
Anyways, I don't want to screw up the chance to get press on the good side of communism with a dumbass idea, and I'm sure the majority of you guys would be a lot better at this than I am, so... any help I could get with this would be really good.
So far, we`ve come up with ideas like making care packages (warm clothing, hygenie etc) things for the homeless people of toronto, or maybe raise money to buy land for first nation people on canada to allow them to survive, or making teddy bears and selling them to raise money for people in third world countries to build wells etc............
Any ideas, suggestions, complaints, comments? Did/doing anything like this in high school? Also, we're thinking of joining up with some other clubs, so if you're in high school around the Toronto area by any chance, wanna join up?
P.S. I know charity and such isn't always a good thing because it just provides something short-term and makes everyone feel like what we have is 'good enough', but there must be some way in making good come of this?
