Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says the era of a global capitalist order has terminated, insisting that the capitalist powers' logic is merely based on bullying, weapons and threats.
Glorious Comrade Ahmadinejad declares capitalism has been abolished! Our fearless leader has stopped the capitalist pig-dogs with his bare hands! All glory to Ahmadinejad!

Would have been nice if this article didn't come with the usual spam/borderline chauvenism one-liner and some real content analysis from OP.

I dont like the guy, but i'd say he has hit the nail on the spot about capitalism right now (and thinking about it, ever since the mid1990s too).

Really? I mean, what is there to say on the subject other than mock it? He is right in the sense that the imperialist powers are weakening, but to announce that capitalism is over? That is a bit of a stretch...

The way I interpreted it was that the era of capitalism is nearing its end. But that's just me. If his religious leaders would let him read Das Kapital so he could be a commie I'd be down with Ahmedinajad. Unfortunately, no.
I wouldn't be surprised if the regime collapsed over differences/power struggles between him and the clerics.

...Glenn beck declared America is going to collapse in 2012 due to communists, Muslims and obama and yet here we are. Just because one nutjob declares something doesn't make it true, I do hope the capitalist era comes to an end in my life but hearing it from someone who is just as bad as capitalists makes little difference to me.

I like this thread, the discussion is deep like Ahmadinejads declaration.

If Ahmadinejad means that capitalism has ceased to be progressive as a global system, he's probably late on that conclusion by over a century or so. If he means that the current imperialist order is no longer all-powerful, then that is true, but this is a decline of the American hegemony that could be compared to Britain's decline in the period between the late 19th century and the second world war, when it too started to militarize to compensate for a relative decline in the international competition between states.
Nothing really ends and capitalism will find new forms to continue its existence unless the working class, the only consistently revolutionary class in capitalist society, gets its act together and consciously ends it, to be superseeded by socialism.

Ahmadinejad's criticism of Capitalism is the same criticism of capitalism displayed by Fascists. It's meaningless.

capitalism is acting more barbaric in Iran. Irans government has cut subsides and abolished labour law. many worker activists and leftist students are in prison, not to mention thousands who are in mass graves.

Hey, you may have escaped the communists, the Muslims, and Obama, but the *Mayans* are going to have *all* of our asses...!

The 2012 phenomenon comprises a range of eschatological beliefs according to which cataclysmic or transformative events will occur on December 21, 2012.[1][2][3][4] This date is regarded as the end-date of a 5,125-year-long cycle in the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar. Various astronomical alignments and numerological formulae have been proposed as pertaining to this date, though none have been accepted by mainstream scholarship.
Others suggest that the 2012 date marks the end of the world or a similar catastrophe.
