Not because I'm empathizing with the musicians or the lyrics but these songs bring back some really hard to take nostalgia of bad things in bad times.

I like the album version better (I think I posted it in this thread earlier?)
This one has better production, but the original packs such an emotional punch. The spoken interlude and ending isn't rushed either.

I didn't cry, but the first time I listened to Tell Me What To Swallow by Crystal Castles, I was sufficiently depressed.
And I almost teared up listening to the intro song for the game Rage.
I don't think a song has ever made me cry though.

The best thing about it is how basic it all is, but that it still gets everything across the way that it does. I've only just begun my journey into emo/skramz type stuff and I was lucky to run into this song. Do you have any idea where I might be able to buy or download any screamo type stuff online? I love how underground the whole thing was/is but it's just a pain trying to find their music anywhere other than YouTube.

Again, I tried searching for their music too but all I found was the other album (or albums, can't remember) which this song isn't on. I had to resort to a video converter. :o

I never had a song that made me cry, but one almost did. When I was a teenager I used to listen to 2pac a lot, and there's one song that's so dreary, dark and disturbing that it almost brought tears to my eyes the first time I heard it:
0cueWd7BHZk
If complete hopelessness and desperation could be turned into a song, I think this would be the result. To this day it still leaves me depressed after I hear it.
I put the pistol to my head, and say a prayer
I see visions of me dead, Lord are you there?
...
Nowhere to run I'm in terror, and no one cares
A closed casket at my funeral and no one's there

And When They Ask Us
And when they ask us, how dangerous it was,
Oh, we'll never tell them, no, we'll never tell them:
We spent our pay in some cafe,
And fought wild women night and day,
'Twas the cushiest job we ever had.
And when they ask us, and they're certainly going to ask us,
The reason why we didn't win the Croix de Guerre,
Oh, we'll never tell them, oh, we'll never tell them
There was a front, but damned if we knew where.

I completely agree with El Chuncho about "The first time I ever saw your face": it is one of the most beautiful love songs I know. Sung by Peggy Seager, for whom it was written, it has tremendous poignancy. It speaks directly to the profundity of that moment when you first see the one you love.
Sounds sad but John Denver's Sun Shine on my Shoulder reduces me to tears, one of my father's favourite songs
Father and Son, by Cat Stevens speaks volumes about the difficulty of father and son relationships, especially back in the day when fathers were meant to be tough and show no real emotions. I suspect it speaks directly and profoundly to many men of a certain age.
Ian Dury's My old man is in a similar vein.
