I'm surprised it didn't hurt.
Yesterday, while I was cleansing, I accidently pulled the piercing out. It took me ages to put it back in. What disturbed me was this little red blob that was in the hole, which made it a little more difficult to get the piercing back in. Hurt like hell when I finally got it through.
Anyone here got their nose pierced? If so, can you tell me if this would effect the healing process at all?

What do you mean by "blob"? Was it a fleshy bump on the outside of the nose/edge of the pierced hole? Or was it a messy/wet hunk of something inside of your nose?
I got my nose pierced like seven or eight years ago, and the exact same thing happened to me (except, rather than pulling it out while I was cleaning it, my boyfriends cat jumped on my face while I was sleeping and ripped it out of my nose :cool:). But yeah, I also had a red blob (it was outside the nose) and I waited for like a month and a half and it didnt go away (although it would occasionally scab over), so finally I just took the piercing out and let it close and got it redone like a year later and havent had any problems since..

My mum didn't want me to get my nose pierced because she said "facial piercings are disgusting and you'll find it harder to get a job with it."
So I said;
"I'm already failing at finding a job! *troll face* "

People have told me that the "blob" is actually a clot. (apparently it's common when getting any area pierced. Basically it's stopping the pierced area from bleeding, making healing easier. They said it would go away after a while.)

If the "blob" is on the outside, and is fleshy then its called a "keloid" and its somewhat common, especially on nose piercings. Its just some extra skin, and nothing to worry about, sometimes they come and go, sometimes they stay forever, sometimes they go away forever, they're nothing to worry about.
If it was on the inside, it was probably just a piece of bloody tissue ripped when the jewelry came out of your nose.
I work in a tattoo/body piercing shop, for reference.

Yeah, it's inside. Will it disappear soon?

If its inside it will probably be gone once you're fully healed.

If you can afford it, you might want to see a doctor about that.

It hardly sounds like anything doctor worthy, and before going to a doctor its smart to go to the piercer (assuming it was done professionally) and get their opinion, they won't mind taking a few minutes to answer your question/make you feel better.

True. If it starts getting sorer, though... just be careful, really. I'm kinda on my toes when it comes to stuff like this relating to piercings since I know a girl who had to have part of her ear removed after her piercing got infected.

The odds of you getting an infection from a professional piercing are slim, because they're using sterile needles (one time and trash) and surgical stell jewelry which is sanitized before its put in.
So as long as you keep up your end of the bargain, by keeping it clean, you shouldn't have any complications.
But a lot of people get nervous, because its sore, or because its swollen, or because they get a keloid.
Now, if you get it done by a friend, or somebody random, or done by a piercing gun, thats a whole different story, if you get it done and you don't take care of it, or if you change out the jewelry to soon or whatever, thats a whole different story.

Funny story.
My mum, despite being against it, wanted me to go for the cheapest soloution. She suggested this one guy (Affliction Tattoo) who did tattoos and piercings at home. I wasen't 100% sure about it, but went along with it. On the day he was supposed to come over, he phoned me and said he was sick. So, I made an appointment at Faith, Hope and Tattoo in Bathgate (Alot of people recomended them). I mentioned Affiliction Tattoo to the piercer and he said;
"NEVER get a tattoo or piercing done at home. They need to be done in a clean enviroment and he woulden't know what your home was like or if you had pets. At least here in my work, I know where everything is and I know how clean it is."
I'm starting to believe him. My best friend got someone to do her tattoo in her house. Weeks later, it began to scar over.
