Happy New Year to all users of the Music forum. It's that time again - let's see your lists of the top records put out this year.
I will, of course, go first:
Football, etc "The Draft" LP - Proper old-school emo record this, for fans of Rainer Maria.
Saturday's Kids "Self Titled" 10" - First release by this sensational emo/post-hardcore/post-punk crossover group from Wales. Sensational live act. Discog available through Art For Blind, best UK label for a while now.
Your Neighbour the Liar "It Seems We're Made to Suffer; It is our Lot in Life" EP 7" - More emo, this time from Edinburgh's YNTL. Free to download off their Bandcamp page.
Radiohead - "The King of Limbs" LP - It wouldn't be a top list without Radiohead, would it?
Death Cab for Cutie "Codes and Keys" LP - I love Death Cab (I know), and in fairness I thought this a pretty expansive record. A return to form?
Bon Iver "Bon Iver" LP - This is just great, isn't it?
Human Hands "Human Hands" EP 7" - Midlands boys play crushing quiet/loud emo, in the same sort of style as The Saddest Landscape et al.
Sun Rise Above "Every Day I Wake up on the Wrong Side of Capitalism" LP + "MF Life" mixtape - Great year for one of our own, and these are two great outputs from this year hip-hop wise. You all should support his new campaign because I am currently broke.
What were your favourite records this year?

Grouper - A I A
I saw that performed live. Was good but kinda... too quiet to have the desired effect.

------------I honestly think 2011 wasn't that good for music. 2010 was much better...-----------
States - "Room to Run"
A little too overproduced, but it's still a quality record. It has grown on me. Their Line 'em Up EP is still fantastic. Sadly they probably won't go back to that quality sound. Still a worthwhile listen. Extremely nice people in this band when I met them. Mindy
Cold Body Radiation - "Deer Twilight"
Not as black-metal as his past release, but it's still a worthwhile record as well. Blackened shoegaze, good stuff.
Circle Takes the Square - "Decompositions, Volume I, Chapter 1: Rites of Initiation"
A tad heavier, and more distortion. It's not as fast paced as As the Roots Undo, but this is some quality material. I can't wait until the full album is released.
I Had Plans - "The Perception Of Beauty Is A Moral Test"
I loved everything about this except the quality of the recording. I'm not picky about recordings usually, as I'll listen to some pretty terrible stuff. However, with their complex guitar arpeggio's, I think this full-length doesn't sound as top-notch as their 5-song demo. It's still a really good demo, but I'll take their demo version of Animal Man over the full-length anyday.
The Pains of Being Pure at Heart - "Belong"
Some songs are great, some are terrible. I've been listening to it anyway, so I'll toss it up. I think the drummer's last band (The Depreciation Guild) is one of my favorites of all time. Hipster shit up in here.
Starfucker - "Reptilians"
More hipster shit... Between the songs Julius and Bury Us Alive, I could listen to this for days. Catchy.
Wolvhammer - "The Obsidian Plains"
Working-class, anti-religious black metal with slight hints of sludge and crust and stuff. Really good stuff! kvlt \m/
Obscura - "Omnivium"
The best death metal around doing what they do best. Technical death metal without the obnoxiousness that most tech-metal has. Get it nao.

These are my picks for this year. I agree with NoOneIsIllegal, 2010 way better, but 2011 has been a shitty year anyway for me cause of all the bullshit happening with me and my family so I didn't really pay as much attention. Out of all these, I can safely say that the new Pianos Become the Teeth and La Dispute records are going to stick with me for a while, def my favorites for this year.

i didnt know new music still came out. when i found out Boris released a whole 3 new albums i took notice. that being said. besides a few singles from a few of those albums, i cannot make a fair judgement on 'best albums of 2011' im merely ruining my thank/post ratio.
