Stroke my ego by asking me questions about myself. DO IT I AM AN ADMIN AND I DEMAND IT!!!
Cool things about me, people might want to ask about:
-I spent 6 years in the US army, including a tour of Iraq, and a few years in a special operations capable unit.
-I used to be in RAAN and now I hate them.
-I used to be a "social anarchist" and now I hate them.
-I've been in the @ game for like 9 years.
-I am a drunk.
-I work in a tattoo shop.

1. What's the story with the RAAN and social anarchist hate?
2. What is your credit card info, bank info, and paypal account info?

1) I think RAAN, as a concept (and as it was presented when I got involved with it) is cool. To me, RAAN was an anti-political network through which insurrectios and hipster communists could communicate and coordinate. But I think it became exactly what it set out to oppose, an organization which defines itself in its opposition to capitalism (which means it needs to capitalism to continue to exist). So RAAN became "the left" which it claimed to oppose.
1b) I hate "social anarchists" for a lot of reasons. I think its a really snarky term that some people use to differentiate themselves from those anarchists that have face tattoos and wear punk clothes. (I guess thats replaces by hipster clothes now though) But mainly I hate them because of their condemnation of "the other anarchists" and their veiled leninism. Also, a NEFAC chapter once left me and another comrade stranded in DC so they could go home and get drunk, pretty much have never forgiven "red anarchists" for that.
2) I don't really have money for you to steal anyways. But if you need it, you can sleep on my couch and drink my beers, which is all I use my money for anyways. Oh, and I don't have a credit card.

I was in an LRS company (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Range_Surveillance)
They're not who I went to Iraq with. When I got home from my deployment is when I joined them, so all I did in my time there was train.

Insurrectionary anarchist, informed by communization theory, with an affinity for autonomism, and an interest in French maoism of the late 60s period.

Why u purged?
The entire tendency I participated in (Direct Action Tendency) was shut down and the whole leadership (I was a steering comittee member) was kicked out of the party, essentially for being to far left. The DAT was a tendency of left-communists, anarchists, and syndicalists in the SP.

I was an anarchist/left-communist (dutch/german trend) before I joined the army.
But then I got purged from the SP, and got let down by local comrades. I felt really isolated, really betrayed, and really burnt out. I pretty much thought that anarchy was bullshit, and everybody involved was full of shit. So I tried to walk away, and what better way to walk away than join the army? Not to mention, I was a 17 year old high school dropout with no serious job, scared shitless of being homeless because my parents threatened me with kicking me out if I didn't "find a better job or a way to go to college".
Somewhere between 1-3 months after I enlisted in the army I realized my mistake an recomitted to my politics, and have stood firm since. Unfortunately my pride, and desire to make my parents proud stood in the way of my politics and I wouldn't let myself quit the army when I had the chance, and now I carry that weight with me every day.

I try not to be "that guy", but I often have to confront homophobia and racism. Which are the tough and all to common barriers to run up against in combat arms (a very macho, and very white corps in the army). Sometimes you makes progress, and sometimes not.
As far as anti-imperialist/anti-capitalist sentiment, there is not much support in combat arms. If your job is to kill people for imperialism, you're not very likely to accept the fact that you're wrong.
There is a culture of distaste for officers in the army, but it is not class conscious (even though enlisted men do hate "college boy"/ROTC officers).

Having Iraqi insurgent POWs tell me "fuck George Bush, fuck USA", and then responding by saying "yeah, fuck those assholes" and burning a miniature US flag in front of them. Or giving prisoners who were days away from release articles by Negri. Or maybe interacting with PKK prisoners.

There isn't one. I was the first punk in my high school, and a couple people got into punk shortly after me. It was so different around here that a lot of us got into fights almost daily because of how we looked.
There is a shitty dive bar about 35 minutes away that has punk shows every now and then though. I still occasionally go. But now all of the punk kids aren't as punk as me and my friends were, and its totally non-political. (me and my friends were into crust/anarcho)

I recently scolded my girlfriend for telling me she wanted to get soup. I told her soup was "like a drink, but more expensive". That said, I do enjoy a stew or chilli, or a real thick tomato soup or chicken and rice/chicken noodle soup.

We had one cat who was a christian, we called him Jesus, locked up in the prison I worked in. He spoke english really well, expalined to me he was a Kurd, a christian socialist, and he was there because he was involved in some sort of action against an islamist militia. Was a nice dude, but didn't really understand much of anything about socialism other than "wealth should be distributed more fairly" or whatever.

I start my body piercing apprenticeship sometime around summer. Thats gonna be my career, whenever my current boss decides to retire/move I might try and buy our shop with two of the other artists/my friends.
What's your favorite time of year/season?
Pretty much "the next one", I get bored with the weather pretty fast, and by the end of a season I'm really excited for the weather to change so I can wear different clothes. But I really like late spring, when its in the 60s/70s and winter when its really cold. Unfortunately we haven't really had winter yet, its been abnormally warm.

Nope, I'm the manager/front room guy/take care of everything dude/future piercing apprentice. It takes a few months to a year at our shop. I don't have my ears stretched, or even pierced. It sketches me out because of fighting, seems like a liability.

4. There aren't any, to my knowledge, and its not like you can just fuck off an wander around the country. There are occasionally prostitution rings that get busted. (i.e. female soldiers selling themselves for extra cash)
5. I'm really excited for the new album from The Banner.

I don't think I act like that much of a tough guy online. I try not to be shitty to people in real life, but I am generally an angry person and I am standoffish, so I come across as a jerk. While not being scared of violence, I really don't like it that much.

You take fire, you orient in that direction, you see somebody with a weapon, and you and every other motherfucker in the world open up. And, depending on what you're doing as a mission, you just get out of there, not go investigating. But I never actually had to fire my weapon because we spent most of our time at a prison, I got mortared and rocketted every day, and got shot at a few times.
Well Korea isn't an active combat theatre. No you wouldn't be punished for going to a prostitute in a country where prostitution is legal.

All were anti-occupation (obviously), but not really clear about their politics other than that usually, the language barrier obviously presents a problem in a discussion like that. I'd say it was 50/50 as far as islamists/others. The islamists wouldn't talk to you if they didn't have to, so I couldn't tell you anything about their psychology or whatever.

Low level civil war/insurgency until some strongman (possibly backed by Iran) takes power and leads an undemocratic regime with some social services, very similar to Sadam.

1) Don't really have one, I was a weirdo when I was little, and I watched documentaries and action movies, not cartoons.
2) Yellawolf, Mac Miller, Lil Wayne on mix tapes, Death Grips, Wu Tang, Eazy E, Common
3) Cap'n Crunch, but I don't eat cereal much.
4) Leprechauns, dragons are for basement dwellers.

Home birth in vermont, best friend was born .5 miles down the road, two weeks before me, with the same widwives.
Lived in vermont and one summer in northern New Hampshire, until i went to college in Massachusetts, studied Latin American social movements and history, wrote my senior thesis on the FLQ (available to be read FYI). I joined revleft my senior year.
In college I went to Zapatista language school in Chiapas and then went to Oaxaca city during the 06 APPO uprising and camped in the fortified Zocalo, working on converting a long vacant police station into a okupa, or squat social center. Subsequent visits to the city revealed the okupa did not survive the de-occupation of the city.
Graduated college, moved to Hawai'i briefly and eventually to San Francisco where I currently reside. I am a part-time under-self-employed skilled laborer(ZOMG petite bourgeois!) and partial freegan, %75-90 of my calories and all my clothes, etc.
Politically I went from generic radical/progressive/liberal in highschool to becoming radicalized and educated formally in Marxism and informally about Anarchism. At this point I just identified as a Marxist and Vermont secessionist. As I became more informed about the various tendency and more aware of my own politics, I now identify as a libertarian socialist. I organize mostly with anti-authoritarians through Homes not Jails and Food not Bombs. I also volunteer at an urban farm which distributes all the produce for free in San Francisco.
Apparently I like talking about myself too...

They were on alerta roja, so the actual autonomous communities were closed, which was a bummer. So I stayed in San Cristobal de las Casas and took these spanish language/political "re-education" classes with other foreigners from around the world, taught by a zapatista/sympathizer of some variety (you don't really ask too many questions). lots of cool stuff going on there politically, salons, etc.
1. What are your favourite bands, favourite genre of music?
2. I know you said you were a libertarian socialist but since i'm not that sure what that means, could you elaborate on your tendency? Are you an Anarcho-Communist?
1. Grateful dead, frank zappa, lots of "world" music, some hip hop, reggae, etc.
2. lol im not sure what that means either.
basically i favor heavily individual rights and self-determination, over societal rights and laws. I have found that anarchist organizing models are most useful for me. I favor the eventual dissolution of the state and am anti-authoritarian but recognize the potential need for a facilitation-based form of small government in the immediate post revolutionary period, simply to facilitate economic coordination and fight internal and external counter-revolutionary forces.

How do you think socialism will emerge in the 21st century?
I think that a total collapse of civilization is equally as possible as communist revolution. I also think that if we don't see communist revolution in the next 40-50 years, that the planet will be to far fucked to be able to sustain life like we currently do.
That said, I think communism will come about rather spontaneously without much help from leftists/activists. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communization)
Essentially I think, as the world starts to crumble around us, working people are going to carry out communization because it will be necessary for them to stay alive. Workers will just lock out bosses, continue working and distributing goods. I think the task of pro-revolutionaries in this is to stand alongside these workers, encourage this as a solution, come to their defense when they are attacked for implementing it, and carrying out actions regularly which exploit the chasm between the state/capital and the workers/disposessed.
I think that in the pre-revolutionary period like this, all pro-revolutionaries should approach the situation from the theory of attack:
Attack is the refusal of mediation, pacification, sacrifice, accommodation and compromise in struggle. It is through acting and learning to act, not propaganda, that we will open the path to insurrection - although obviously analysis and discussion have a role in clarifying how to act. Waiting only teaches waiting; in acting one learns to act. Yet it is important to note that the force of an insurrection is social, not military. The measure for evaluating the importance of a generalised revolt is not the armed clash, but, on the contrary, the extent of the paralysis of the economy, of normality. If students continue to study, workers and office employees to work, the unemployed to solely strive for employment, then no change is possible.
I think the theories of attack and communization go hand in hand.

I don't think the overthrow of capitalism will be "class conscious" in the way people on here percieve that term, and I certainly don't think it will be "leftist", in fact, I think it is impossible for "the left" to destroy capitalism.
I don't think revolution is going to come about because of masses of workers parading down the streets with red flags. But, there might be some red flags here and there.

1. Why are you an Anarchist as opposed to any other leftist tendency? (not trying to start a tendency war, just curious)

3. Favourite movies?
1.) Well, interesting story behind that, I used to be a Marxist-Leninist until fairly recently when I realised it was a load of rubbish, so I just gave it up and declared myself an Anarchist (it's the tendency I agreed with the most), I'm still trying to figure out a solid position for myself, but I'm definitely comfortable with Anarchism. That being said, I haven't looked in to Left Communism yet.
2.) It feels really awkward whenever anyone asks me this, because I don't have any.
3.) I don't really have favourites because there are so many amazing films I've watched. Mongol is a pretty good one.

How did you deal with post-SP political burnout, besides going into the army I mean?
By the way, you should totally get a Trotsky tat on the other leg. Remember Kronstadt. ;)

Well, I ripped up my membership card, joined the army, and the people I worked with locally on that project dropped out of politics.
After I got home from basic training and shit, and realized my mistake, and wanted to get active again is when I started working with a different group of people locally and joined RAAN, and the political culture around RAAN is obviously different from the SP and is less condusive to burning people out. But the people I worked with in RAAN locally were shitty comrades (we're still friends though) so I kind of got burned out with that. Pretty much my rule now is to not work on political projects if they need me to start them/take leadership of them.

I know this has probably come up before but having lived in sweden, how do you think the social-democratic system works? Is it more or less a myth that american believe?
Dirt-blonde, calling it actually blonde is stretching it. Sexy? Hell yes.
The myth is in a way well and alive here as well, though the only ones that would use the word socialism about our detoriarating wellfare state would be the hard right. You know, the same way Obama is a socialist.
But it's mostly a myth, the wellfare system that was built 50's, 60's and 70's has been gradually torn down for over two decades now, by both soc-dem and liberal-conservative governments. My generation is the first one to grow up worse off than their parents. The 90's was a slash-burn a and privatize fest and it's still going on. They recently privatized the drugstore statemonoploly and now the minister for finance is oh-so-shocked to find that less than serious entrepenurs have divided the market between themselfes 5-ways and prices have gone up. As for the past, well as with, say, the FDR years in the U.S it's idealized. Economic upswing and a strong labour movement did have it's benefits. The union organization in sweden is still over 70%, but it's steadily decreasing.

I just got "Infantry Attacks" by Rommel. Most of my books are from the department of the army, and they are analyses of Russian and German tactics from WW2, written by ex-German officers. Also, some of 70s-80s soviet tactics.
I acquired them when my recon unit cleaned out their library, and were just gonna throw them all away, so I tossed them in my car.
