Fundamentalist Mormons forbidden from sex until the Apocalypse

The most bizarre story I've seen recently. Warren Jeffs, the leader of the FLDS (Fundamentalist Mormons), who's serving 10 years to life in jail for raping underage girls and marrying them off to older men, has pronounced an edict forbidding any sexual relations in the community until he gets out of jail - he says the jail walls will crumble, then he'll return and the apocalypse will take place....

Living not too far from his community in Southern Utah this isn't surprising. About 5 years ago he told his followers the apocalypse was coming and to purchase all the cars, food, material possession, etc. you could as you could take it with you during the rapture. Well that didn't happen so the banks confiscated most of their homes and property due to the inability to pay. Jeffs blamed it on his followers not having enough faith. Did it again another few years later and again nothing happened and more of his followers broke away. The same will happen again though from what I hear there is already a power struggle underway to take power away from Jeffs due to his inability to actually lead.

I do miss the the time in High School where we would celebrate the End of Days as we put it. Became a rather big joke as they would prophesy the end of days every few years. What I found interesting from my discussions with people from these communities is they are not allowed to read any form of scripture and that all decisions are dictated by their prophet without any discussion and those who question it are immediately ousted from the community.
