This is my current favourite song of all time:

LYo6taZapzI

...and I'm digging tune a lot:

eSbPwkFzQgE

I used to listen to stuff like this semi-ironically, but now I've realised it's actually awesome:

rV9VuPkIIv4

pNj9bXKGOiI&ob=av2e

This stuff is amazing when you're drunk and everyone around you is dancing like mad:

Was me and my girl's jam when I was in Iraq:

Me and my friends as young skinheads, mods, and punks used to dance in our friends hardwood floor living room to these jammers:

Soul/motown is the only music I have consistently like for years and could listen to every day for the rest of my life.

yall should check out the numero group from chicago, they dig up old cuts and bring them back to the light of day, some really good stuff there. 'downriver revival' and 'good god! born again funk' are two of my favs, but the entire 'eccentric soul' series is pretty damn good.

yeah man, they also did a good compilation of 'american primitive' guitar music , part of their 'wayfaring strangers' series. when i did some weekend work in a record store one of my co-workers knew one of the people who worked on that particular compilation.

oh, and i'm just gonna leave my own little project here:

soul music was strongly connected to the civil rights and black power movements of the 60s and 70s

the impressions wrote lots of songs for the movement, and were basically a staple on activist turntables
NlF2GzfU7DE
qfGsTx3xtdI

aretha became an important figure for both black power and women's lib movements esp with this banger
6FOUqQt3Kg0

this jam was banned from the radio for fear its message would incite riots in the streets
7b5HXZRQFss

and stevie wonder always had a very socially conscious side, even tho he wrapped it in lots of new agey shit

Oi, soul rocks! Norhern soul, motown... you name it. But I don't like this modern stuff.

So, how come that none of you posted best song ever?

We have very similar tastes.
I'm a huge fan of 60's soul and Nothing But a Heartache is one of my all time favorite tracks. I used to spin every time when I DJ'd years ago...

Cool :) Unfortunetly, there are no places for such music in Croatia. But when I was in UK I've found some old rasta guy in Brixton who had like old northern soul 7''. So I talked with him for 2 hours about northern soul etc. Unfrotunetly, there was no my favorites so I just bought few old school reggae 7'' like Toots & The Maytals - Pressure Drop/54-46 Was my Number or Susan Cadogan - Congratulations / In The Ghetto... etc. Actually, I could post Susan here, cause her reggae (or lovers rock) is actually kind of Jamaican soul.
