Why do some conservatives say that fascism is left wing?

If I am correct they are using a false dichotomy, which is "right wing=less state", "left wing=more state"...I think they tend to use this a lot in the USA (same as libertarian, they support free market, LOL-something you would never see in Latin countries).

The comparison comes largely from what you said already about right wing=less state left wing=more state. It is also to do with a very vague and half-assed analysis of the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany. They see both as strong totalitarian states with un-elected dictators that stamped out dissent with murder.

To make it seem like every bad thing in the history of the human race was caused by or associated with leftists.

The avatar of Mafalda says: ¿Ven? Este es el palito de abollar ideologías (search this and you probably will find it in google).

See? This is the stick for destroying ideas
