OK, my school ( and I'm probably speaking for many other US schools) is really going down the crapper. School work here is nothing but busy work for the teachers and then tests, it is so simple it's beyond comprehension.

I think that the problem isn't necessarily the teachers, but the curriculum under which they are supposed to teach. Most people that get bad grades all the time could for the most part, get strait A's really easy, but I have a feeling that many people can't make a connection with the way our schools teach.

And another thing that is messed up is that for my senior year, i am going to be running for class president. And since I am so much different than the people the usually run, all the staff, administrators, and student think that I would win really easily, but the administrators said that i am going to corrupt all of the student at my school and that I shouldn't run. F**k that !! of course im gonna run. Does anyone have any good ideas that you could give me to tell me what kind of things would be good for a lone socialist to control the massive amount of right-wingers at my school??

A Gay-Pride March is always a good one. ;)

On the issue of teachers, they are over-worked and under paid - put in a job they hate because they lack all resources to control and teach their pupils.
Where does the blame lie ?

In the Education Authorities.

Hmmmm...I'd have to say my school is very similiar yet the curriculum is actually more difficult here. Yeah, I know, everyone reading this just thought "there's a retard for you," but in previous school systems I've easily achieved A's and a high Grade Point Average. The school I'm in now is, of course, extremely poor and just downright full of propaganda. It's very easy to see and point out lies. For example, in my social studies class we're discussing Communism all of this year. I swear I don't think that I've read a chapter from our history book without pointing out several lies or several examples of biased information. Even the teachers, allthough i do feel bad for them, do in fact lie. "Communism could never work, people are naturally greedy," is something I recently heard from my Social Studies teacher. Another Social Studies teacher did this:
Question: "What is better for the common person, Communism or Capitalism?"

Response from friend: "Communism." (And he's in favor of the government too)

Teacher: "Um....no. No it's not."

Easy enough to see what's going on in the school's. And I even have to rise for the pledge and all that great stuff in first period. Yes I HAVE to, it's not a choice.

Anyway, I'd love to talk your ear off about all the bullshit in my school because there is so much of it, however, I think I'll just leave it at that.

You are in a unique position.

It's rare that you can humiliate a figure of authority, that is, your teacher, and get away with it.

I urge you to read as much as you can. Destroy his propaganda by knowing more. You can do this, of course.

One suggestion: stay calm. Don't bait your teacher, don't yell. Say what has to be said.

Other students hear this. They will not rush to you proclaiming you're the New Christ. But they will hear it, and it will influence them. This is a good thing.

Being in High School can mean being in power. We HAVE to educate you. You can't be fired from high school.

Fight the good fight,
