View Full Version : I think that Windows 8 will be a Vista-Like flop, or worse.

Look up their demo on youtube. It looks like a joke! They and all other software companies always ignore the saying, "If it's not broken, don't fix it!". Also, I've never been a fan of having built-in social networking software. I feel like I'm being tracked when I have that sh*t on my PC.

I totally agree. It will be much worse than Vista (I didn't think Vista was bad tbh), it looks like a total joke :/

I actually liked the alpha.

ISO mounting was needed

Didn't like the GUI, but after I got used to it

Why do they have to alter the GUI all the time it fucking sucked in windows 7 until i finally figured out how to make it more like XP.
The configuration screen was especially shitty.

I think you should take into consideration that Windows 8 will be primary for tablet use, right?

Bah. When this comp dies I'm switching to Linux so quickly it's absurd.

depend on the distro and what you do with it.

I still dont understand why Microsoft is stuck in the past by forcing its user to have only 1 GUI.

Most of linux distro allow you to change it. Dont like KDE? take GNOME. Dont like GNOME? take XFCE.

also, i find it utterly moronic that you cant just shutdown the graphical interface all together to save the memory use, you can do that in linux, all you have to do is to load the video driver and open the game/software and fucking run it.

Eh, if anything, I can just dual boot 7 and 8, just like I did with XP and Vista until 7 came out.

It sucks, but if you want to have full compatibility with everything (latest games, software, drivers, etc), you are pretty much forced to use Windows, and eventually you have to adapt to the latest version since they inevitable cease to support the previous one. Luckily, 7 came out on the heels of Vista, and outshone it in every way, so I no longer felt the need to have XP on back up in case Vista was being stupid or wasn't compatible with something. Let's hope they make improvements on 8 or release a quick successor that handily obsoletes it so I don't have to do the same thing again.

Who cares?

Linux Mint or Linux Ubuntu make fine alternatives.
