He definitly would not be.He is so popular because he represents something. He represents to most of those idiots who wear those shirts and dont know shiy about him a "ReBeL".He gave his life for the cause. It would be different if he was still alive.

It could be either way.
He wouldnt be a 'pop' icon, thats for sure, that famous picture used on the t-shirts was first published after his death. So fashion slaves wouldnt know him.
On the other hand he could of changed quite a bit of the world and would be reknown worldwide, he was already thought a hero before he died, so at least to the left wing people in the world (which they may of been more of?) he would still be a great example.

It's all just speculation. He could have murdered George bush three years ago if he was stilll alive today, for all we know.
But when someone dies young, they are forever cast in that mode. we don't see them grow old, their mistakes are swallowed up in the praise and swept under the rug when people are too busy mourning.
Che also died for what he believed in, becoming a martyr and elevating his status further.

yes.
People today would still know of him, and celebrate him as a symbol of revolution and fighting oppression. However, he wouldn't have been a martyr, something that (in my opinion) boosted his "popularity" early on. He'd be like Fidel in a sense, still very much a symbol of social justice and revolution, but still alive. Maybe Che's image wouldn't be on as many flags, t-shirts, or websites, but the true admirers of the Cuban revolution and socialism around the world would know who he is (was) just as we know of Fidel, and what he has done for the cause.

Indeed, I agree with felicia, if he were alive, his status would be like that of the Fidel but maybe, he wouldn't be as famous as he is because there wouldn't be so many shirts with his face on it...a lot of people have only known of che because of the shirts...
...and I wouldn't be so disgusted and wouldn't want to gouge out the eyes of those people who wear che shirts just because they like it or just because they want to look rebelious but for me, they just look stupid
The CHE spirit is wealth. I thought should more read his work, and understands his great personality. We should study the method which he works. Unceasingly for revolutionary fight! VIVA CHE!

he definitly would be more known for the person he is if he was still alive instead of just that guy on the shirts. im confindent that he would have changed the world quite a bit if he was still alive but i think that mayb if he were then he wouldnt be such a pop icon. the capitalistic pig fucks control the tvs, and the tvs control america so they would prolly make him a public enemy and ppl would believe whatever the tv tells him and hate him. < did that make any sense?

Yeah, the media would probably try to give Che the same sorta of public image that Osama Bin Ladin, and Saddam Hussien have today.

I think it would depend also on wheteher he succede in his revolutions in various places.Remember for 1965 abd 1966 people thought he was dead.It was a myth for that brief period.

I think he would be MORE famous because he could have done more things.
