Last saturday we occupied the ING bank in Amsterdam. All 20 of us were arrested (after 2,5 hours). But after this other people, inspired by our action, spontaneously blockaded two other banks in the city center. This led to 5 more arrests. Media coverage was good (we even made the national 8 o'clock news that evening), and in general people were extremely sympathetic. A woman in an electric wheelchair kinda thing even helped us by moving in front of us when the police were trying to evict us from the building.

This action came after a huge decrease in momentum of the occupy movement in the Netherlands, and the (partly forced) reduction of the campsite to less than a third of what it was at its height. Now it seems people have regained some of their courage and spirit, and that they see that there are more things you can do besides running a tent camp. Surprisingly, no one from occupy came up to us during the action to say how they disagreed with our tactics (i had really expected this). Someone even brought us a tent from the campsite :P
